Steve Hancox - Civil Dispute Mediator

Experienced Civil Dispute Mediator After a period as a full-time mediator (accredited by the ADR Group) I have now returned to practice at the bar, specialising in family work at Cathedral Chambers, something which I find fits well with my mediation practice. I use a structured and professional approach to mediation, with a clear process to find a settlement which satisfies the interests of the parties. My style is facilitative, but I am happy to engage in reality checking where necessary. I am down-to-earth, patient with everyone and willing to go the extra mile to help them find a solution.

Professional Background

I practiced as a barrister in London, the West of England and South Wales and have been involved in many commercial, civil, property and family disputes from the County Court to the Court of Appeal. This has involved many settlement negotiations, often at the door of the court. With a reputation as a “safe pair of hands" whatever the issue, and able to relate to people from all walks of life, people have commented on my lateral thinking and ability to help people find creative solutions to seemingly intractable problems. I have experience of a very wide range of disputes including Building & Construction, Neighbour & Property, Landlord & Tenant, Partnership and other Business disputes, Contentious Probate, Family, Employment & Sale of Goods.
I am a SFEDI accredited small business trainer and adviser. My business course was described by the deputy headmaster of a local school as “the best inset day I have ever been on." I am based in Herefordshire but practise in the Midlands, South Wales and Nationwide.
