With Spring in the air, it's not just the birds that are setting up new homes - so are the Italians! After 10 very successful years at La Capannina Ristorante in West Calder, Gianni has moved to a new restaurant located in Bellsquarry, Livingston. La Campana Ristorante is located above the Elm Tree Inn, and Gianni along with chefs Germano and Tony, will be serving lunches in the pub and dinners in the restaurant. In the pub there will be an Italian tapas menu as well as pizzas on offer, while in the restaurant there is a full a la carte menu offering many of your favourite dishes from La Capannina as well as a few new ones including, from the middle of May, flambeed dishes prepared at your table.
Gianni first came to Scotland in 1980 and started working in Dario's restaurant in Edinburgh. In 1985 he moved to Livingston and opened his own restaurant, La Capanna, in Howden. The restaurant was very successful and after a few years moved to larger premises in Carmondean
In 2002, Gianni opened a new restaurant, La Capannina (which means 'The Little Old House') in West Calder's Main Street. Again, this proved very successful, so he decided to take the opportunity to open a second restaurant.
La Campana can be booked for special occasions such as weddings and birthday parties, and has dinner/ dance and karaoke facilities which can also be booked for your party. There are special menus available to suit all budgets for these functions, which can be for up to 50 people.
Booking was a pleasure, all my requests were met. My friend and (I he from Glasgow) had dinened there in 2006. I went overseas. Loved it. So we decided to return after my return! The Maitre D was excellent? Laura chose our wines, also our food. My friend is vegetarian and I am difficult. The wines and food were *****. The restuarant has a homely fell which did not distract from the Quality! Also the Take Away Service meets the same standards.
