Stephen Beirne Optometrists is a clinically focussed , independent opticians offering eyecare in a friendly relaxed setting.

I am an independent Optometrist. My Opticians in Falkirk I opened in 2016 and my Dollar practice opened in October 2018 . I carry out full NHS eye tests, fit contact lenses and have a range of spectacles from budget to designer. I carry out all my eye tests in Falkirk professionally and in a relaxed manner. All my patients will have plenty time to have their eye tests , try contact's or choose spectacles - whatever they prefer. Childrens eye tests are also available and every eye examination is given the same level of professional care and attention.

I qualified as an Optometrist / Ophthalmic Optician in 1996 and have over 20 years experience all over Scotland conducting eye examinations , fitting contact lenses and advising on spectacles . I have worked in Hospital optometry , independent practice and high street practice.

You will notice a different approach to eyecare as soon as you enter my practice in the newest independent Opticians in Falkirk and opening soon in Dollar.

All patients are entitled to a FREE NHS funded eye test in Scotland and all my examinations are carried out in a thoroughly professional manner above and beyond the minimum standards required by the NHS audit. All my equipment is also NHS audited to their specific standards, so you can be sure of a detailed examination.

The benefit of being a fully independent optometrists and optician, is that I have access to all major spectacle frame suppliers and contact lens suppliers. I have a wide and varied range of frames in stock for you to try from budget spectacle frames to designer spectacle frames.

I have extensive contact lens experience in fitting : daily contact lenses , monthly contact lenses, toric contact lenses, varifocal contact lenses and gas permeable contact lenses.

I teach my new contact lens patients how to insert and remove lenses safely and supply all safety information before a trial of the lenses.

I do things differently - I take all the measurements myself for new spectacles.

I do all the clinical procedures : pressures, visual field checks etc that elsewhere are carried out by "optical assistants".

I will make sure that you are given the correct, simple to understand advice regarding your eye health , spectacles and contact lenses.

I have leaflets in practice for patients to take home on Diabetes, Glaucoma, Cataract , Macular degeneration and more.
