Designed over fifty years ago by Colin Chapman of Lotus Cars as the Lotus Seven, these cars now have modern engines, brakes and tyres which combined with Chapman's original philosophy of minimising weight results in unsurpassed performance and handling. Despite its formidable reputation on track, they are nevertheless very easy to drive.

One feature of the Caterham Seven, probably not deliberately intentioned by the designer, is its unfailing ability to make people smile.
