Having prebooked a table for two it was disappointing to find we were the only guests in the dining room on a Saturday night at a Bank Holiday weekend. The meal chosen from the Table D'Hote menu was roast lamb but we received lamb chops. We found it strange to be asked by the foreign waitress how we would like the lamb cooked. The meal itself was pleasant enough albeit not what we had ordered but the service was dreadful. It was as if the chef was cooking the meal from scratch as we waited. The meal took 90 minutes for two courses. The wait seemed even longer as the lone pianist played "As time goes by". I refrained from asking him to play it again in case his name was not Sam. The soup and the lamb came to £47 for two which hardly covered the wages for the pianist. No wonder we are losing tourists when this is the service offered on Royal Deeside.
