Nobel Energetics has a long and distinguished history that has its origins in Nobels Explosives Company Limited, founded by Alfred Nobel on the Ardeer Peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland in 1871. Since then, the site has been continuously involved in the design, formulation and manufacture of a wide range of explosives, propellants and other energetic materials. Today, Nobel Energetics has focused this scientific heritage into niche applications that demand controlled, high energy effects, best achieved by expert use of propellant and explosives technologies. Nobel Energetics is highly skilled in the design and manufacture of products that use combinations of energetic materials to provide controlled high energy outputs from minimum space and weight envelopes.

Combination of Explosive Technology with Engineering Skills

Such products include: rocket motors; igniters; electro explosive devices; solid propellant gas generators; power cartridges; military demolition detonators; military grade detonating and ignition cords. Typical applications include rocket propulsion systems; weapon systems; missile guidance systems; safety and arming units and military demolitions. Whilst many products are designed specifically for the application, a range of standard off the shelf products are also available.

Nobel Energetics provides the energetic input for such partnerships and has helped international consortia win contracts. A recent example is the NLAW program lead by SAAB Bofors. Nobel Energetics is responsible for the design, development and manufacture of the launch rocket and flight motor.
