In response to your above post surely no pet should be lost while in your care and the fact that you have stated that you have only lost one since 1997 is absolutely unacceptable. I cannot believe that you are still not willing to take responsibility for losing our Ollie but yet still blame your employee and Ollie himself. Absolutely absurd to blame a cat for being over inquisitive!! This is your business and at the end of the day you are the one held responsible, perhaps if you had done more through maintenance checks on your pens and facilities this conversation would not be happening and Ollie would still be with us. It took you five days after Ollie’s disappearance to contact our emergency contact, my dad and step mum. Why was this? I would totally disagree with the amount of effort you put into so called searching for our boy. We searched minimum twice a day for nearly a year and when you saw us you went inside and avoided us. You did not contact us and when we searched we found the traps you left out had no food or anything to entice Ollie. I believe we left a note in your post box asking why this was. I find it extremely distasteful for you to imply we gained financially at the expense of you being totally incompetent Cattery owners and losing our Ollie. It is correct that we did not pay for our other pets stay but what Business in their right mind would charge after losing one. Even for you to imply that this should be looked on as favorably is a joke. It is also true that we received £2000 from your insurance company, not that I need to explain but this went on Solicitors fees, fuel for 30-40 miles round trips daily looking for our boy and responding to possible sightings day and night. Producing posters and flyers and delivering them round Peterhead, St Fergus, Inverugie, Mintlaw and all the surrounding properties in a 5 mile radius of Rora Kennels. There were also food donations made to the CPL in return for the use of their cat traps along with the reward offered for Ollie’s safe return which we still have. Your are cold people who can rattle off statistics and state how many pets you haven’t lost but at the end of the day you shouldn’t have lost any and I hope to god you never lose anyone else’s again as this has been truly heartbreaking. It isn’t a fortunate Business that does not suffer an unfortunate occurrence as you would call it, it would be a Competent Business that would not suffer this unfortunate occurrence. Your sincere apologies mean nothing as they are not genuine in the slightest. I would recommend that all potential customers inspect the pens if leaving their cats there and if your cat is too inquisitive like my Ollie then perhaps look elsewhere!!!

Harrier1056 1 reviews We are fully aware of the distress that the loss of a pet would cause to owners and it is for this reason that we make strenuous efforts to ensure it does not happen. Since opening the business in January 1997 this is the only pet to have been lost whilst in our care and this occurred as a result of damage to a cattery panel caused by an employee who failed to advise us such. 99% of the cats in our care would not have even noticed this damage but this particular young cat did and proceeded to rip the hole wider so that it could escape overnight after its arrival. All efforts were made to locate the cat from the morning onwards but it would appear that he had already left the locality. Over the following months traps and food were put out and the grounds searched 5 times daily but with no result. We continue to keep an eye out for him. For some perspective on this unfortunate incident. The owners' other cat and 2 dogs enjoyed their 2 week stay with us without incident and no fees were accepted. As we are a licensed facility the owners were able to claim a four figure amount fro our insurers. With 19 cattery units , over 19 years we have had cats boarded with us for 64,270 days with one loss. With 24 kennel units over the same period we have had dogs boarded with us for 90,149 days without loss. To end , whilst we accept the absolute devastation that this loss has had on the owners , we feel that it would be a fortunate business indeed that did not suffer some unfortunate occurrence and once again offer our sincere apologies to the family. All potential customers are welcome to ask for more information about this incident as we are keen that it does not become the "Elephant in the Room"

Rora Boarding Kennels & Cattery lost our cat Ollie on the 27th July 2013 whilst we were on holiday due to a split in the pen roof, Ollie is still missing as of today (17.12.2013). We as a family are absolutely heartbroken and desperately want our boy back. The contact and help from the cattery since them losing our boy has been non exsistant, would not recommend this cattery :-(
