Welcome to Samuel Taylors. You may already know us from our retail stores dotted around Yorkshire as Samuel Taylors. Established in 1948 and now in the 3rd generation Samuel Taylor began by distributing woollen textiles. Having embraced all the major craft trends over the years we have become the main specialist retailer of creative crafts in Yorkshire. With our large team of knowledgeable and helpful staff, we operate as Samuel Taylor from 7 retail sites and a central distribution warehouse bas
I believe that Samuel Taylor's has a lot to answer for. I feel it simply relies on being one of the very few haberdashery/fabric stores remaining in the city centre. On visiting the store today I was confronted by extremely unhelpful, rude staff and lots of snide remarks being made about other customers in the shop. I left feeling angry and frustrated that a shop I used to rely on has turned into a horrible place to visit. Not a happy customer

Sadly shops like this are now hard to find. Samuel Taylor is like a Tardis - stocks a huge range of fabrics, buttons, trimmings, patterns etc etc. whether you are interested in crafts, clothes making or furnishings. I always buy more than I was looking for!

My first visit to Samuel Taylors was after a long treck around West Yorkshire trying to find a decent fabric to make a summer dress. As I was in Leeds, I asked around about local sewing boutiques and was directed to Samuel Taylors. The only downside to this store is that it is located down a side street so anyone not familiar to the area would probably have to ask directions. However, I had an idea I'd find just what I was looking for the moment I walked through the door as there was so much choice of everything. Sewing equipment was on the shop floor and downstairs were the fabrics. As I predicted, within about 10 minuits I had found a perfect fabric. Not only did I purchase the material, I couldn't resist buying other trimmings and buttons as there were so many beautiful choices! I was again surprised as I went to the counter to pay, the prices were so reasonable. I now make sure to save my legs and go straight to Samuel Taylors whenever i need sewing materials.
