Our six year old daughter had been to Ponderosa twice before and as the weather was fine we decided to visit as a family. Set in spacious and well lanscape grounds, Ponderosa offers a much needed retreat in what was a former industrial area. The large animals such as the Lama's, goats and pigs proved very popular with children and the small animal area allows you to contact some of the animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. The only drawback was that the hand cleaning facilities need improving and the toilet facilities are not adequate for the number of visitors the centre attracts. There are bird of prey enclosures which are facinating, but lack the space for some of the birds to move around in. Again the reptile and monkey house could also do with some more space and imagination. Disabled visitors will find no problem in getting about the centre and the tasteful flower beds allow pleasent areas to rest and watch the horses as they give children pony rides at intervals during the day. The site also as a cafe where you can rest and grab a cup of tea before you continue. There is plenty of play equipment to keep the kids amused. It's getting them off you'll find the problem! If you are looking for a day out with a difference, give Ponderosa a try!
