About

West Sussex Mediterranean Restaurant

If you are walking along a certain dusty road at the magical hour of dusk, and if you are especially lucky, you may suddenly be struck by the most enchanting music. Follow the melody and you may then become aware of breathing in a heady aroma of barbequed kebabs, enriched by the vague scent of exotic spices. Curiosity will lead you to a dimly candlelit restaurant and your senses will be thrilled further by the richest of colours - ruby, sapphire, emerald and amber - snuggled amongst twinkling shards of copper, silver and gemstones. There is only one place you could possibly be - the home of all that is Eastern chic in Littlehampton.

The Silk Road Restaurant

Take adventure by the hand and step forth into the unknown realms of visual and tasteful delights. Forget absolutely where you are and allow yourself to be swept back in time to the days of Sinbad and Aladdin and the wicked Ali Baba - where beautiful princesses were rescued from tower tops by hooded heroes on brightly decorated horses and where belly dancers entertained in flower perfumed harems, seduced by incense and the desert wind.

An intoxicating menu awaits you

The evening intensified by the finest in wide-ranging live entertainment - belly dancers, Brazilian & Latin jazz bands, Spanish Flamenco and the Gypsy Kings, or DJ hosted party nights - to name but a few. Enjoy your evening at the Silk Road Restaurant, come again often but you will never forget that magical moment of your first visit.

Last Week at the Silk Road Restaurant Littlehampton

Hello there Silkroadies, We have just had a really nice weekend, all snuggled up together in the warmth of a very recently double glazed Silk Road - and it was glorious - no draughts, no iced up windows, no wind hurtling down the stairs. In fact, people were complaining it was too warm! The first event to benefit was Jazz on Thursday with Cookie, Ray and Adrian housed in the previously freezing area of the bay window - now snug as a bug! It was great to see all our lovely regulars namely Bruce & Vivienne, Tony & Mary, Sue & Martin, Alan & Eileen and John & Vesna as well as some super new faces. The music was fabulous as always but the 'hero for the night' prize goes to Megan who managed to run the kitchen in Adem's absence absolutely beautifully. Then to Friday when we had DJ Andy here for our '80's disco & kebab night'. It was nice to have Simone and her friends in as well as Sam and Jess with their work colleagues, Margot & Richard and of course Val and some of the Silk Road bellydancers who usually manage to find their way here whenever there is a chance for a bop! It was a great night and the partying went on until the early hours of the morning. It was so successful as a maiden, I thought we might try running a regular monthly themed disco and the next one in a fortnight's time will be the 70's - yeah man!! On to Saturday - unfortunately I was as tired as could be (from all the 8.00am starts with the window fitters) and was unable to lift my feet off of the ground. My boy Seb mercifully noticed how shattered I was and offered to hold the fort while I was at home getting some much needed R & R, little did I know that the night would end up being fairly busy. From what I heard it was a fantastic night with everyone enjoying the atmosphere and most of all the food (quite a few empty plates at the end of it - with all credit to Megan and Harry in the kitchen, again!) So here is a picture of our fab little commis with her sister and mum and thanks also to Sebbe and Katie for doing such a great job on the floor. Xxx This week is looking fairly bleak at the moment apart from Saturday when we shall be entertained by Serita again so I would very much appreciate you all phoning me to make some much needed bookings and don't forget the following dates: Friday 11 March - 70's Disco and kebab night (Jackson 5, Mud, Slade, Marc Bolan, Eagles, Village People etc) £15.00pp. Saturday 19 March - Kemal Kusabbi & his funky soul band (Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Grover Washington, AWB etc)

The Silk Road Restaurant is a fabulous restaurant. I have been there many times over the 5 years they have been opened. The atmosphere, food, hospitality, are wonderful and you really feel as though you are treating yourself whenever you visit. As well as a regular restaurant they also have great entertainment nights on weekly and monthly bookings. Every Saturday there is a female belly dancer. They have a monthly gorgeous male Egyptian belly dancer. Included in their special nights are Brazilian Jazz, Blues, Flamenco, disco nights and many more. It is well worth getting yourself on their mailing list to find out what is on. There is a fabulous Sultan's palace room where you can have a pre dinner drink, it is so romantic and spell binding. I regularly take my friends and relatives from London whenever they visit me. In fact over the last 2 years I seem to have had an awful lot of visitors!
