Great Scope & Improving

Friday nights in one little corner of West Sussex see's the battle of the local chippy's-in the east corner, Yapton, further west, Barnham. The latter is run in a regimented fashion, supremly organised with a steady influx...and departure...of customers. For that, its a little impersonel, and, on occasion, the food has tasted the same way. Yapton, on the other hand, is a more relaxed chippie. They have recently added Pollock to their fish menu-and yes, its bland and tastleless, but I am not condeming that, good for them for being aware of dwindling fish stocks-a menu which, overall, has a huge variety and which can cater for all tastes and appetites. The food is hot, the helpings plentiful, the service friendly-though when they are busy, the staff usually need reminding of the smaller details of your order-but, on the whole, its just right for a Friday night and when you want someone else to do the work. For a chippy incidentally, the steak and kidney pies are very good. Alas, however, like most chippy's, the mushy peas need some work. However, this is an issue endemic of most UK chippy's, not just this one. Worth more than a visit-take out a season ticket between now and the New Year and see how you get on.
