I ordered over £600 of wallpaper from Errington's. The service I initially received was good in that I already had main wallpaper that I had decided on and I needed help in choosing a contrasting paper. We could have bought the paper £40 cheaper online but decided I would support my local business. After I had decorated I returned to the shop I as had bought 1 roll too many of each wallpaper. They refused to accept returns stating that they had a sign stipulating no returns. The sign was a sticker about 10cm big on the back of the till. However, when I bought the wallpaper I had a large wallpaper book and paid on the counter with a card machine I wasn’t standing directly in front of the till so I did not see the sign. I explained this to the assistant who just said the manufacturer couldn’t take back wallpaper. I stated that WallperDirect accept returns, offer free delivery and were cheaper. She replied by saying, yes, but you wouldn’t of had my service. I also asked how many people buy the exact amount of paper? As it is difficult to estimate and 1 roll of each kind wasn’t a great over estimation. What’s the alternative? Buy too few rolls and have the decorator return a week later when Errington’s have ordered more paper. I also said how I wanted to buy curtains, cushions, lampshades and also furnish the other rooms in my house. Could I have a credit note? I simply got a shrug of the shoulders. Very disappointing customer service. So, in total that FREE design service cost me £150!!! If I had bought online wallpaper it would have been cheaper in the first place plus I could have returned the spare rolls free of charge.
