Italian & Mediterranean Restaurant. Happy Hour 5pm - 7.30pm Sunday to Friday, 5pm - 7pm Saturdays. A la Carte menu available at all times
Two friends and I were walking past Santinis during the opening night (a Friday) of Sunderland's International Airshow. The front of house guy saw us browsing the menu outside and encouraged us to come inside, saying they had a free table. The starters took a LONG time to come, which we sort of understood with it being a busy night but when they came, they were very poor. The garlic bread didn't taste like garlic and the bread was cripsy when it wasn't supposed to be. The bruschetta was soggy and tasteless. We then waited an HOUR for our main course (the order was taken at the same time as the starters). Twice during that time we politely asked if our food would be ready soon and twice nobody came back to update us. I wanted to walk out there and then but my friends were too polite lol, so we waited and eventually our food arrived. It was hot and edible but certainly not worth the wait. We didn't finish the food as it wasn't very nice. When I asked for the bill, I asked if they wouldn't mind taking off the drinks and starters due to our very long wait. The waitress proceeded to get the manager (I assume she was the manager) who asked why I wanted them taking off the bill. I explained politely that we'd had a very long wait of over an hour between courses. She said that was our fault for not booking. I told her we'd been brought in off the street and that really they shouldn't do that if they can't handle the number of people. She said we should have said something and I explained that twice we'd asked where the food is. She once again curtly said they were very busy and said she'd take the drinks off the bill and that was her being 'very nice'. In the end I was happy just to get out of there. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip and I'd NEVER eat there again. Terrible service and terrible food.

Myself and a group of friends went to this restaurant last night for my friend's birthday and we were left shocked at the appalling attitude of the staff as well as ending up unwell from the food we had eaten. We went there during Happy Hour but I think someone had forgotten to tell the staff as not one of them could manage a smile throughout the 2 hours we were there! They were rude, abrupt and unfriendly towards us and when one of us complained about our main course, they were extremely uninterested and argued with us. The service was also extremely slow. Obviously they were all lacking in customer services skills and using cheap food to serve as their meals. About an hour after leaving the restaurant I was then violently sick and suffering from stomach cramps, continually having to go to the toilet. Both myself and my friend had eaten the salmon and prawn starter and she was suffering exactly the same symptoms as me, which we are both still suffering with now. I would definitely not recommend going to this restaurant, especially if it is for a special occasion, as our visit was, as it would ruin the event. It was the worst experience of eating out that I or my friends had ever had and we will definitely not be returning
