NEL Fund Managers Limited, is an independent fund management company which provides financial products to small and medium-sized businesses based in the North East of England.

Originally set up in 1989 to provide unsecured loan funding to regional businesses, NEL is the region's most active business investor and has since managed eleven funds with a combined value of over £90m, including the new £20m Finance for Business North East Growth Fund. We have invested in over 200 regional companies in the last five years alone, with hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs in every part of the region being supported. Both early and late stage capital investments are available from NEL, according to investees' needs; and alongside large numbers of investments in traditional industries, an increasing number of technology investments have also been made in recent years as the region's knowledge economy has expanded and thrived.

NEL is always looking to support North East companies with strong management teams and robust business plans for the future.

Managed by NEL Fund Managers Limited, the North East Growth Fund is designed to facilitate the creation of over 1,500 new jobs in the region, as well as helping to safeguard a further 1,300 jobs by the end of 2014.

We are aiming to make investments of between £50,000 and £400,000 in at least 130 established North East companies which are at a development and growth stage.

Investments will enable the chosen investees to put business development plans into action that they otherwise wouldn't have the funds to execute as quickly, as comprehensively or even at all.

The Growth Fund is part of the wider Finance for Business North East Fund - created by One North East - which will see £125m of investment capital injected into the region by the European Investment Bank, the European Regional Development Fund 2007-13 and the regional development agency over the next five years.
