About

Côte Bistro - Richmond

Our inspiration for the food and design of Cote is a modern take of the famous bistros of Paris. Inspired by new trends, we are dedicated to serving authentic classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist, using quality produce at great prices. On the menu, guests will always find brasserie favourites on our a la carte menu such as moules marinieres, corn-fed chicken from rural Brittany and tuna Nicoise, for dessert, Cote's creme caramel and creme brulee are much-loved house specialities.

Popped out for a spot of dinner on saturday, saw Cote had just opened, it was very busy and really looked good. However, we were very dissappointed with the service, the waitresses were very polite but seemed to lack basic training. For example, water did not turn up, the meal took too long to arrive, i had to badger to ask where the food was and what had been ordered was not delivered to the table. The food was not bad though and we did receive free drinks for the in-correct order. So in summary atmosphere very good, food not bad, service poor.

Cote Richmond is the 3rd restaurant to open in what is looking like being a chain of French Bistros. This Richmond offering opened at the end of June 2008, and I watched the renovations with interest, venturing in for lunch a couple of weeks after they opened. We started with some Pissaladiere (flat bread) to share, which had Reblochon cheese & thyme on top. Whilst still eating this our main courses appeared (when I complained they said that the bread is not counted as a starter, hence the mains are not delayed). Main courses were the Mushroom Crepes; Steak Frites; and the Half Roast Chicken (the latter two being Weekend Specials).Had a couple of different wines by the glass which were nice and decently priced. No room for dessert this visit. Liked the stylish décor and the relaxed atmosphere. Service was a little stilted, but it was only early days. Prices were reasonable and food quality good.
