About

Control, Eradication Farncombe Surrey - Alpine Preservations Ltd

We are a long established company offering high standards of quality and service at all stages, from initial enquiry to after sales care. Surveys carried out to a high standard and promptly produced. Our experienced surveyors will be able to determine if the dampness reported is rising damp requiring a chemical DPC and replastering, or if it is dampness due to salts left in the plaster by an old case of rising damp which just needs specialist replastering. Wood boring insects will attack all types of structural timber. It is most commonly found in older properties although the insects can be found in more modern properties. Very old properties can have holes which became inactive many years ago and to the layman look identical to fresh holes where damage is being done. Penetrating damp is the ingress of external moisture into a property through the walls or into the basement/cellar below ground. Where possible the source of the moisture is controlled such as a leaking gutter or down pipe. The exterior walls can be protected with repointing, rendering or the application of an invisible silicon water repellent. When penetrating damp occurs below ground, such as in a basement/cellar, the source of dampness cannot be removed and thus a variety of specialised "tanking" systems are applied by our experts to provide a barrier between the damp brickwork and the decorated surface. The type of tanking system used will depend on the end requirements for the area under consideration. If the basement is to be used as part of the living accommodation, the most popular form of treatment would be the cavity drain membrane system which is applied to the walls and floor which provides a dry environment which insulates and reduces condensation problems. This system is more economic than some other systems available. Alpine Preservation Limited can offer other forms of tanking depending on the type of structure and needs of the client.

STAY WELL AWAY FROM ALPINE PRESERVATIONS! I am Chartered Building Surveyor and regularly encounter their reports they provide on pre-purchase situations. They are awful and incompetent. Their website summarises this easily on the front page where they say they are experts in 'rising dampness'. So they are not experts in any of the other (and more common) forms of dampness then? They do not undertake in-depth or even basic quality investigations into dampness problems and simply sell there replastering and chemical treatment products which never solve the underlying issues causing the dampness. It would appear that they are not even PCA registered (which requires a basic level of competence). They offer their 'professional' services for FREE ! Remember, anyone offering free professional advice are not professional, they will be getting their money some other way, i.e. from the useless replastering and chemical treatments they provide. I have a host of their reports which are factually incorrect and as they are essentially no different to those appearing on Cowboy Builders I will now be reporting them. Many estate agents recommend them to buyers or sellers, why? because they come up with a value of unnecessary work which can be used as negotiation to drop the price of the house and then everyone moves on, leaving the new buyer with an issue which is not resolved. Avoid any advice given by estate agents as part of your sale process, particularly when recommending so called damp experts such as Alpine Preservations.
