My husband and I went for a meal after work last Friday 27/07/09 as I knew the pub was under new ownership and wanted to try it out. Previously, the food was mediocre and over priced but they seem to have got it right this time. Great choice on the menu and the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. I had a lovely whitebait starter and my husband had 2 of the best fishcakes he'd had in years. We then had a Nelson burger and sausage and mash which were both excellent. Total price for 2 inc. a couple of drinks each was £37.50 which I thought was very reasonable given the high quality and good service. We will definitely be returning!!

July 2009 - The Nelson Arms is under new ownership with a new fresh menu and new real ales.

Good Tucker! We have eaten here twice since the new owners took over and we have been impressed on both occasions. This was always a lovely pub and has suffered over the past few years. ITS BACK ON TRACK AND RECOMMENDED. Well done. Keep up the good work.Nigel & Amanda

A friend and I went here for lunch the other day; I have been here a couple of times before and thought it was about average. This time there were few people here - a sign I should have taken more notice of! The food was again average - and a bit pricey. But the service was very good - so much so that as it was raining I asked if we could borrow an umbrella, to which they gave me an almost band-new one. Now that's good service, don't you think? If they could only reduce their lunch prices by about 20% that would be a real help and draw others in.
