Restaurant - Chinese in Farnham (Surrey)

Farnham

Good decent local Chinese. Yes the decor is dated - well as far as I can tell as I only stayed in the reception area - but the food I ordered as take out was very good. I've just moved from London to Farnham and the dishes tonight were as good as some of the swankier take aways from Wandsworth.

Found this restaurant to be tired, expensive and disappointing after a first time visit in Dec 2008. The table was sticky, the cutlery old and the menu dated. The lights were all on too brightly, which removed any atmosphere. It felt like eating a takeaway in someone's kitchen. Mens toilets were filthy (which is never a good sign). Service however was friendly and efficient and food was good, if not exceptional. The place desp needs a refurb. Bill was expensive - £72 for two people eating off a set menu. It felt like a £30 experience, not a £72 one.

The Colony is one of Farnham's best kept secrets. I take friends and family, clients and colleagues here often; the food is excellent and the service extremely friendly. Strongly recommended. The only reason I haven't given them 5 stars is because last week they accidentally gave me a vegetarian creamy sweetcorn soup with chicken in it ;-) Wonderful place - try it!
