The Allen Brown Jewellery Gallery specialises in handmade, fine jewellery using unusual gem stones and coloured diamonds. Designs for our collections start with the careful selection of exquisite stones, chosen for exceptional in quality and unusual shape or colour. We believe passionately that even contemporary precious jewellery can be ethically traded, using conflict-free diamonds, gems and 'green gold'.

Contemporary Jewellery Design
Since 1986, Allen has lead a team of designer-makers who all work on the jewellery collections and commission pieces as well as taking turns to work in the shop. This allows us to give design and technical advice to customers when they are visiting us, advising them on the suitability of stones and settings to help their ideas become a beautifully-crafted piece of bespoke jewellery.

For each bespoke item and collection piece, we sketch and develop several different ideas, taking traditional techniques and settings one step further to discover the most appropriate piece for each stone so that its shape, facets and colour are displayed to the best advantage. The result is stunning pieces of precious jewellery both beautiful and practical, making them timeless favourites for our customers.

Allen Brown

Allen Brown believes that even contemporary precious jewellery can have a conscience and strives to be different, using only ethically traded gems and conflict-free diamonds and actively sourcing 'green gold' wherever possible. He leads a proactive, innovative and forward-looking team who look to be at the forefront of new ideas in both design and the industry. He believes that, 'Fairtrade isn't just for coffee' to encourage people to consider the route source of their precious jewellery and 'Ethical doesn't have to mean ethnic' to show that even fine jewellery can have a conscience.

With over 22 years in the industry, Allen has promoting 'green' for a long time already. Allen Brown Jewellery's bespoke remodelling service transforms old pieces of jewellery into cutting edge, contemporary designs. Allen also has long-established links with mines in Brazil where he sources the majority of gems used in his work and by working closely with these hand-picked mines, knows the workers are fairly treated and employed in safe working conditions. Both the white and coloured diamonds used frequently in his collections are purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict organisations.

The Allen Brown Jewellery Gallery is committed to finding reliable and sustainable sources of greener gold that is produced without the use of cyanide in conditions that are safe and fair for workers. It also strives to use the minimum of packaging and recycles raw materials, packaging and other waste wherever possible.
