About Fiona Mackenzie-Spence

When meeting Fiona one is immediately struck by her passion about the subjects she holds dear. Fiona is hugely concerned about the problems of obesity, particularly in children and her aim is to motivate and inspire parents to lose weight themselves and to help their children get fit and healthy again. “I wrote this book because I thought I could help others, who like me, were struggling to lose weight and had tried diet after diet unsuccessfully. I managed to lose the weight and have kept it off for ten years now, so I know the way I advocate healthy eating works at getting and keeping weight off"
A firm advocate of the power of the sub-conscious mind, she's convinced that as a species, through our individual thought, we have the capacity to live in harmony with each other and the planet we inhabit. Fiona is also a photographic artist and her work is often abstract and certainly different to anything else out there.
A long marriage has ended so Fiona has changed her name to Mackenzie-Spence although clearly the books were published under her married name of Wall.

Fads, Pills and Potions

The subject of losing weight is forever in the media – there are pills, potions, formulas and remedies all promising to help you lose weight. Some of them might help, some will be a waste of your money. Out of the ones that say they will help, what is it they are doing? Most seem to “burn fat" that you might consume so that it doesn't stick to your body, but passes straight through. There is a bit of a problem with this though because it's generally not the fat you're eating that's made you fat, it's the SUGAR you're eating that's made you fat.
Granted, if you are someone who's sensible enough not to eat sugar, you are not likely to tuck into much in the way of fatty fried junk food either, but if you eat butter, it's not going to make you fat. If you eat sugar, taking a pill to burn fat off before you munch your way through a large portion of fries is not going to help you. In the end, if you want to lose weight and keep weight off, it will be about eating healthy food, in smaller quantities – particularly protein and fibre and eating it when you're tummy is rumbling because you're hungry. So before you waste any more money on pills, potions or the latest fad, just remember its about HUNGER, GREAT HEALTHY FOOD & SMALLER PORTIONS. Happy weight loss! x

Successful Weight Loss Is Not Just How Much You Eat

We are all aware of the notion that if you consume fewer calories and burn those up through additional exercise, that you will lose weight, but it's actually far more complex than this, particularly when you are 4 + stone overweight. There are other things that need consideration, for weight loss to be effective.

Recent research is showing that the actual ingredients of much of the processed foods that you're eating, will effect the bio-chemistry of your body and have disastrous consequences on your ability to lose weight. These changes in the bio-chemistry of your body also impact on your ability to feel naturally hungry and to feel satisfied when you have eaten the right amount of food that your body actually requires.
