Truly awful

After being recommended Oxford's reconditioned bikes by several collegues, I decided to give it a go. After two cancelled bike viewings (in both cases, the owner cancelled after allowing me to wait for over an hour), I eventually bought a fairly rusty but supposedly "completely useable" bike. During the first three weeks, I began to experience a number of issues with the bike, including a broken mud guard, poor handling accompanied by a loud rattling noise. Consequently I attempted to contact the owner, who ignored my messages and phones calls for almost a week. Eventually he set up a time to view the bike, which he subsequently cancelled (again after allowing me to wait several hours) and agreed to turn up the next day. Surprisingly, he actually turned up the next day (and on time!!), and after viewing the bike and noting several imperfections, concluded that the bike "probably had not been serviced particularly well". He agreed upon an exchange, promising me a much newer and sturdier bike, which he would deliver the next day. The next day, after waiting several hours, during which I made a number of attempts at contact, the owner apologised citing family problems. After calling the owner (understandly annoyed), he agreed to meet me early morning to deliver the substitute bike (allowing me enough time to get to work). After waiting almost 25 minutes, the owner eventually turned up the next morning producing a bike even older and rustier than the bike he had sold me. After a 10 minute shouting match, he took both bikes back and agreed to a refund. I found the owner of this company to be incredibly rude, abrasive and unreliable. I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing a second hand bike to avoid this company.
