Nice restaurant, shame about the access

You can't really not write a review for a McDonald's restaurant in Oxford, can you? The subject's irresistible – all those high-end, haute-cuisine eateries specialising in food from countries you're not even entirely sure where they are on the map to choose from in Oxford, and you to a McDonalds. Well doesn't justabout everybody? And I suspect that might even include a few of those stalwarts from the Botley Mums protest group who were carrying out that slightly embarrassing campaign focussed on the one on the A420 a few years ago. It's a McDonald's. What you expect is what you'll get. It's clean inside, the food - for any visitors from outer space who are reading this, is generally beef burger and chip based - and is as good as it ever is. It's reasonably priced. It's in a good position – if you're trekking out of or through Oxford, it's on the way to London and the south-east so it's a very handy stop-off, especially as there isn't another easily accessible McDonald's on that route till Hemel Hempsted, really. It's open painfully early in the morning till late at night. Offers anything and everything you could want from a McDonald's – except. And this is why I've knocked off one star, as in every other respect it would easily be a ‘three'. Despite being situated in full view of, and right beside the main through-traffic route, it is devilish difficult to get to from the main road. You end up being routed round the back of residential closes. The resulting tricky access must have made whoever planned the - otherwise commanding - positioning of this place weep.

Mcdonald's - Headington

Service

This is a nice and friendly Mcdonald's I think compared to some I have been to. Quite small inside with limited seating but some nice padded seats and window seats to look over the Headington Hamburger from! No complaints about the taste of the food there, we have had many juicy burgers and tasty milkshakes. Like the ice cream flurry things too. We have always found it to be nice and clean with enough staff buzzing around. It can get a bit busy in there because of its' location I suppose but at least there is a reasonable car park out at the back and if you can't park there you can usually park up the road. Plenty of serviettes, sauces, straws always available. I have never been there and not been able to get what I wanted.

Terrible

Service

Quality

The place is terrible, every time I go there the place is sticky and the serving and service is horrible. Not only is this McDonald's but you usually expect a standard service. Quite a few chav drivers like to stop there and they can annoy you with their cockiness and "I don't care about anyone else" attitude. I would rather go in town and get a Burger King or go to a fish'n'chips which is a little cheaper but a lot better. Parking is good though and that is usually the only reason why I stop there after working at PC World.

Convenient if you're passing Oxford on the M40

This McDonald's is on the Green Road Roundabout in Headington, and is back in full swing with the major roadworks to the roundabout now complete. It's very convenient as a meeting place - and a refuelling stop - for anyone being collected from Oxford by car, as you can drive along the A40 and A34 (round the ring road) and rejoin the M40.The restaurant itself is clean and bright with decent service, toilets, etc. I have many good memories of meeting a caffeine-refuelled carload of team-mates here on the way to one sporting event or another, and this Maccie-Ds definitely contributed towards our promotion in the league. :-)
