The food here is outstanding and the service excellent. The building (once you've found it!) is beautiful and the prices are very reasonable. This should be your first choice for Thai food in Oxford.

I have been many times and have enjoyed the restaurant setting as much as anything. The food is very good, the Thai Green Curry is excellent but it is the hot soup like curry rather than the milder creamy type Thai Curry. Always enjoy their rice and starters also.

A great place to go!

I really like the restaurant and have been quite a few times now. The menu is varied with a wide range to choose from, the food is of excellent quality with great flavours and carful, beautiful presentation. The staff are friendly, attentive and dressed in tradtional dress. Trying to find it can be tricky as its down a little alleyway (we walked pass it several times without realising) but once inside it opens out to be a fairly big place and good decor. Do make sure you ring and book in advance though as its a popular place, especially at weekends.

Great Thai Food In Central Oxford

Service

I went to the Chiang Mai Kitchen for the first time a few weeks back as part of a large party from my office. Overall I was very impressed with the whole evening. The location is very central, so convenient for those out in Oxford, although it took us a minute or two to find the entrance itself. Once inside, the surroundings were pleasant, the atmosphere good, but most importantly the food was lovely.I tried a variety of the dishes and all of them were really tasty and well cooked...some were very mild, whilst others had a real kick, but none of them tasted like they had been made more spicy for the sake of it.By way of criticisms, the food was a little slow to arrive, although I'm sure this was down to the size of our party, and sometimes it was very hard to catch the eye of staff in order to request more drinks etc.I'll definitely be going back to the Chiang Mai soon.

Our favourite in Oxford

This is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Oxford. This is the best Thai food we've tried here, and the atmosphere is a great mix of English and Thai. The service is generally wonderful as well.

Coconut makes you happy

I went there for the first time last week, didn't know what to order as the menu can be quite overwhelming for people not used to Thai food. So I just asked the waiter to recommend something. He recommended the seafood thingy and ermm chicken curry thingy.. sorry can't remember the names! Anyway it was lovely and I suspect that ANYTHING on the menu would be equally lovely.Dinner portion wasn't huge, so we could still end it with a satisfying sticky rice dessert. Yummm.Service was great, the waiter (and soothing effects of the coconut in the food) left us feeling happy and warm. They were really busy and short-handed, and so could get neglectful however, but their warm smiles made up for that. The important bottom line is this... Always check your bill! When ours came it was mixed up with some other table's, and as the names of the dishes were all in Thai, it was difficult to see if it was the right bill except in our case it was twice as much as it should have been, and hence it was glaringly obvious to us. Lucky the bastards who got away with paying half price for their fabulous dinner!

Very nice restaurant in a small alley right off Oxford High Street. The atmosphere is surprisingly casual, considered the fame of the venue (hint: always book if you want to go eat here in the weekend). The service is also very friendly, even if on a crowded night you can sometime feel the pressure.Food is very good: delicate, tasty and never too spicy. If you like desserts, make sure you go for the sticky rice ;)

Stunning Thai in an intimate Oxford setting

Service

This is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in the UK. I love it for so many more reasons than simply the gorgeous food. The setting is distinctive - very Oxford; a 17th century merchant's house tucked down an alley off The High. It's old and creaky, but effortlessly comfortable. It's bustling and popular, so perhaps not the perfect venue for a romantic meal (although I've had some special evenings there) - but the lighting is subdued and the service friendly and discreet. The Kueytiew Phat Thai Jay is very yummy.
