Restaurant - Chinese in Henley-on-Thames
53-55 Reading Road
Henley On Thames
Oxfordshire

This is an interesting experience. It has actually moved up the road and is now located at smaller but smarter premises at 53 Reading Road. The key feature of this place is that you can eat as much as you like for your evening meal for £13.80 per head. There is no catch but you are given some "rules" on arrival that have clearly been drawn up to counter any attempts to abuse the system. The deal is for a minimum of two people, you will be charged a la carte if you over-order and leave food in significant quantities at the end and there are no doggy bags allowed. You can choose up to six different starters and can have seconds, thirds, as much as you want. Then you move on to crispy duck pancakes, again as much as you like. You can choose up to six main courses plus rice and noodles and if you haven't exploded there are unlimited supplies of banana fritters to finish off. It's clever stuff really because there is obviously a limit to what we can eat and if we overdo the starters we will not go so heavily on the mains. The wine is good value too, with a very drinkable house wine for £9.99 a bottle. Service is friendly and quick. The food is lower end of the Chinese market but what can you expect at that price. What I would say is that although it is heavily ladened with msg and is hardly the fare of a health farm, there are plenty of chinese restaurants where you would pay double the price for the same quality.
