Come and seduce your senses at Nottingham newest and most innovative tandoori restaurant. Umami is the latest addition to the Chapel Bar area providing the perfect place for a quick bar snack, alfresco lunch or a unique formal sit down dinner experience.
Umami is no traditional curry house as evening diners can choose from the delicious a la carte menu which offers a combination of traditional favourites like Korma and more unusual dishes like Umamis signature dish, Khandhari lamb shank, tender melt-in-your mouth lamb slow cooked in an array of delicate herbs and spices to create a delicious medium spiced curry. The a la carte menu offers an equal weighting of meat and vegetarian main courses. At lunch, diners can enjoy a 2 course set lunch menu, complete with poppadums and homemade pickles everyday between 12 and 3pm. And if youre popping in for a quick drink, Umami has delicious bar snacks, available between 12 - 6pm everyday! Umamis interior is simple and elegant with the emphasis of the design placed on bespoke furniture and comfortable seating, complemented by exposed brickwork and a rich colour palette of chocolate browns and cream.
I went to this restaurant by chance and was really impressed. Well worth a visit if you enjoy Indian food.

Exceptional food and service however it was the overall ambience that really impressed me most. I would definantly recommed this restaurant as a must try.

Yes, the space is chic and the service is good. The food, though, is on the bland side and is a league behind the other top notch Indian restaurants in Nottingham like Kayal, Curry Lounge and Cumin. I'd go again just for the stylish interior - but when I went the background music was way too loud.

Visited Umami with my wife who is not normally a great fan of Indian food. We both had a wonderful time with great food andefficient service all in a great modern environment. Highly recommended.

A friend claimed Umami's to be the best restaurant they'd been to in years. So with high expectations my wife and I went along on a Thursday night and we weren't disappointed. I think the best thing about Umami's, (beside the delightfully friendly staff) is that they will cook your food hot, medium, mild or 'desi' as you specify. So if you are like my wife and hate all things spicy, there is still a quantity of delicious meals available for you! Brilliant food and as i say, most pleasant staff, looking forward to going back.

a friend went before myself and my wife claiming umami's to be the best indian restaurant in nottingham. so with high expectations we went along on thursday night, and we weren't disappointed. what we loved about umami's is that each dish is cooked as hot or as mild as you specify, (which suits my wife perfectly because she doesn't really like terribly hot food). Umami's has a large selection of vegetarian options too, however, as recommended, i settled with the lamb shank which was cooked perfectly! we both really enjoyed our night and will definitely return!

I recently went for an evening meal to the new Umami restaurant. The food was lovely and the staff very friendly. They had a really good vegetarian selection of both starter and main courses as well as allowing you to choose how hot you would like your dish. I will definitely be going back again!

I had a meal there just once. Mouthwatering food, nice wine selection, big portions and no sloppy curry! Very chique amience. The only t hing which I would change is sweet corn and cabage in the salads... In my oppinion they do not go with Indian food. Apart from this an excellent place!

Delicious melt in the mouth fabulous food. The best in Nottingham. I travel around the country dining at many indian restaurants and Umami is now my No.1 favourite. The cuisine is delectable, the service wonderful and ambience chique, minimal and classy. Very comfortable very friendly can't wait to go back.

My girlfriend and I recently had a meal at the new Umami restaurant and the food was excellent. It was the best meal out we have had in a long time and the service and overall ambiance was 10 out of 10. I can highly recommend this restaurant and I am looking forward to going again very soon.
