The following services are provided at the start-up:


1.Leads and develops the dispensary services in accordance with the standards provided in the Controls Assurance Standard for Medicines
Management to ensures the effective management of dispensary and distribution services in accordance with current Trust and Pharmacy department policies and procedures and legal and professional requirements.

2.Prepares or directs the preparation of prescribed medicaments in different forms (liquid, powder, tablet and ointment) or other forms following prescriptions issued by medical doctors and other health professionals.

3.Helping pharmacists with a range of other duties such as stock checking and ordering.

4.Keeping individual records of patient’s prescriptions, usually stored on a computer and assisting with services to nursing homes or GP practices.

5.Checks that recommended doses are not being exceeded and that instructions are understood by patients;

6.Maintains prescription files and record keeping of poisons, narcotics and other habit-forming drugs.

7.Liaises with other professionals regarding the development, manufacturing and also testing of drugs.

8.Ensures the provision of a safe, efficient, effective, equitable, economic and quality consultancy services.

9.To actively promote the principles of medicines management as outlined in the Audit

10.Commission and Ensure those effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place for all dispensary and distribution processes.

11.Develop a system for capacity planning for the dispensary Services and maintains an economic, rational and safe system for the procurement and storage of pharmaceuticals and ensures their availability and support in the daily running of the purchasing department.

12.Monitors and reviews services and interfaces with users to establish that services are meeting current needs and adjusting to change in demands.
