Belmont Kennels - Dog-God?

Belmont Kennels – Andrew Fews – Dog-God? Dog God? I don’t think so. We have homed three dogs from this person when he had finished breeding with them. The first was a dog who, he told us, didn’t like Westies and Golden Retrievers but was fine with other dogs. After he bit a man’s arm and put him in A&E because he was trying to protect his Jack Russells from him, he admitted it actually didn’t like any other dog and if he saw a dog he would attack. We kept the dog until he died but we could never take him out unmuzzled or let him off a lead. The second one was fine. The third one we took from him was called Donna. We rehomed her after another couple had had her for a week. He said the dog was frightened of pushchairs and the couple had ruined her, along with a puppy they had bought from him which they had also ruined. So he took her back. It transpired that Donna was frightened of everything and everybody if not on her own territory. We persevered with her for nearly four years and she was the sweetest, gentlest dog ever when at home. My other dog had problems with her and they had quite a few fights but every time we told Andrew Fews, he refused to take her back or threatened to have her put to sleep. He later apologised for this and said he would never do it. I saw two of the fights and each one was instigated by my other dog, not by Donna. We went away for a weekend recently and they were in Belmont Kennels. They fought in the kennels and my dog’s face was badly injured. No-one saw the fight so it isn’t know which one started it though I think it’s likely to have been my dog. We had to pay £800 to their vet. He said to take Donna back and within ten minutes of my husband leaving her there, he was on his way to the vets to have her put to sleep. I have spoken to the vet and he told me that Andrew Fews had told him the dog was aggressive and that the police had been involved with her. These are absolute bare-faced lies. Donna was a lovely gentle dog and she was never involved with the police. He has now accused us of causing her problems, again another lie. She came from him with more problems than any dog I’ve ever seen, bless her. In the right home, she would have made some-one a lovely dog but he never gave her a chance. He never tried. Just another story of heartless breeders when they have finished with these poor animals. He isn’t fit to be around dogs and to think I used to call him a friend.

I left my dogs and cats in this kennel recently.Though \I have used them for years I have found one of the owners rather rude but felt the animals were well cared for. However on returning this time round I noticed white fur on their grooming table and one of the owners stated the other owner had been grooming my dog. This owner then appeared with my dogs and he had cut my dog really short. He told me I don't get her groomed properly(she was well groomed before I dropped her off).He told me she was matted and I wasn't looking after her properly.I have very recently been to the vets with them and all was good.I believe he hadn't brushed her in the whole two and a half weeks I had been away so of course she would be matted. Why if he believed her to be matted did he leave it until the morning I was collecting her to groom her by cutting her short.I am astounded that no permission was sought prior to him grooming her in the way he did.His attitude is appalling and I would never recommend this kennel now.
