Lunchtime Meal
My wife and I have been going to the Harvester Restaurant on Ashby Rd for a few years now, initially super quality service and very good food. Of late (last year or so), we have seen a decline in the standard of food: both quantity and quality. I must stress that the staff are as courteous and friendly as ever. However the food has really gone downhill. Just returned from a lunch meal ( Wed 19th May 2010) that my wife could not eat (fish and chips), the batter was uncooked and the fish inside could I think been a health hazard, she returned it and to be fair was offered another. Sadly she was put off so didn't bother. My gammon, to keep the theme going, seemed to have shrunk in the wash and was far from a decent size ( I am a small 73Kg guy with a medium appetite so am not looking for half a pig), coolish fries and an egg that had seen better times. Sorry Harvester, but you have gradually gone down in our view: staff as good as ever but whoever is in control of purchasing needs to look at the quality of what is being bought in as it is definately not as it was. In addition, whilst I know that the guys behind the counter are not chef's perhaps the training regime of what is a cooked dish could be improved. As I said at the start, we have used Harvester for many years, very satisfactorily but our last, I think 4 visits are making us think that it wasn't just a one off. Would we recommend it to our friends? At present - no. Sorry folks, staff though are great.

The Harvester
My husband took me there for the first time on Valentine's day. It wasn't really a romantic atmosphere; I don't think that would have been achievable in a pub! But anyway it was a lovely dinner. The food is fine, not the best you can find, just typical pub food like. We have been back since and always enjoyed our meals. The menu is quite big so I like to try something different each time. There isn't much point going for a starter as the salad bar is included with all the main meals. The choice of deserts is also quite big and all the ones I've tried have been fantastic. I recommend the profiteroles! The waitresses are also very nice.

My review of the Harvester - Loughborough
A lovely big pub where I like to take my parents out for dinner. They have a great menu and there's plenty of choice to please everyone! Prices are great - especially as you have a free salad bar which has quite a lot of choice too! You can also have an 'early-bird' discount so it's worth arriving a little bit earlier. There is a separate bar section from the eating area so if it happens to be a busy time you can go for a nice drink while you're waiting for a table. They also have highchairs available and are very friendly to the lil ones :-)

The Harvester
This is quite a cosy bar / resturant that is good for an inespensive night out. There is a free salad bar and usually some kind of deal if you go at certain times of the week. The food is not too bad, basically what you would expect from this kind of establishment. Service was good and the bar area is very comfortable with a fireplace which is very welcoming on a cold winters evening. This is an ideal place to go with friends for a meal and then spend the rest of the evening in the bar. Overall a pleasant night out with no frills or gimmicks.
