Winter Valeting

It's been a bit of a nightmare valeting in December, with -10 to -20 temperatures. I have had my chemicals freeze and 6 inch of water frozen in my tank, so it's not been the best month I have had valeting. We have had the coldest weather for over 100 years. In the last 100 years, we have experienced five colder months - January 1940, February 1947, January 1963, February 1963 and February 1986.Health and Safety is imperative and even more so during the winter months, especially when the ground is freezing cold as the water we apply freezes on the ground. We carry rock salt so we do not leave a premise hazardous. One of our main findings in your cars are the floor mats, with snow on the ground which is carried into your car; it has melted from your footwear into your mats which has not had the chance to dry out. This has caused in some cases, soaking wet carpets, as some of the cheaper car mats are not rubber backed so the water soaks through into your carpets. Cheap mats in your car may look good at first but once they have had some wear and tear, their bad quality shows, which may lead to rotting your carpets.Grit|Salt on the road which helps us get around can damage your paintwork unless you have protected your vehicle, take your car/vehicle to your local jet wash and give it a good wash down and wax it if you can, this will protect your car/vehicle through our winter weather. At least the weather has picked up in January 2011, the sun is getting closer every passing day and with the warmer temperatures valeting has become easier. When the suns out it makes you feel better and I have already been in my t - shirt on a couple of occasions so summer in on the way. Thanks for reading and I will be waffling again next month.

Your Guide to the Perfect Gift for Dad

Your Guide to the Perfect Gift for DadHave you ever been stumped trying to think of something to give your dad for his birthday, Fathers Day, or Christmas? Fathers can be one of the hardest family members to buy for, and therefore they are often the ones stuck with boring gifts like socks or ties. These types of gifts are not that great because they are not personal. Your dad doesn't really want socks for Christmas, but how do you know which present will really light up his eyes with joy when he opens it? Of course, there is no one present that every dad will love, because everyone is different. However, to figure out the perfect present for your dad, the trick is to do some thinking about what he really loves. Think about your dad as a person, and identify the aspect of his life that gives him the most pleasure. This could be a hobby, such as golf, gardening, or cooking. It could be a love for old movies, travel, a particular sport, or a prized collection. Whatever it is, this passion is what your dad would most likely choose to do on his day off, what he gets excited talking about, or what he is most proud of. Once you have identified this favourite thing, you can now use it to come up with gift ideas that are related to it in some way. This guarantees that your father will be happy with his present, because it is linked to something that he really enjoys, and it also shows to him that you care about him enough to put thought into what he is interested in. For example, if your father enjoys writing short stories, you could buy him a book about fiction writing techniques. On the other hand, a set of fine quality paints and a new canvas or two would be a very inspiring gift for a father whose passion is art. Here are some other ideas based on common interests and hobbies that your father might be interested in:Cars: If your dad is in love with his cars, a great present could be a deluxe car care kit, which contains everything from shampoo to wheel cleaner so that he can lovingly restore a vehicle to mint condition. He might also enjoy other vehicle detailing related accessories. Fishing: If your father loves to go out fishing, you could treat him to new lures, a new fishing pole, hip waders, or even a small cooler to keep his drinks nice and cold. Golf: Your golf loving dad would probably appreciate some new balls, clubs, or a gift certificate for the local golf course. And if you are up for it, he might love it if you went with him!If you take the time to think about what your father enjoys, you will come up with a more meaningful present than the cliché tie or dress shirt. When your gift is related to your father's passion and interests, he will be sure to love it and appreciate your thoughtfulness. Just what do we find in your cars

Just what do we find in your cars? It's my first time at a car blog/waffling so i will start off with a simple overview of whats been happening and some of the great valeting jobs we have done. Some of the best and common factors are, we turn up for a valet and knock on the door and the person says i want to apologies on behalf of my xxxxxxxx. We know then it's going to be an interesting valet to say the least.I popped round to a job where someone had painted the whole of the dashboard with emulsion and gloss paint, this looked great once painted, but not once it started flaking. Do not try this, trust me you will regret the cleaning bill. Please always take bananas, chocolate bars and any other rubbish you may have from your vehicle as these do not go up our hoover, on more than one occasion we have found these trampled into carpets, squashed into seats or in some other areas of your vehicles. Another valet we turned up to, it's someone i know and a good friend, i think she had a fetish for empty plastic bottles, there was over 40 in her car, she was over the moon as she found her ipod she had lost and bikini top and low and behold her favourite shoes. The car was a rubbish tip, it took 2 full bin bags to empty out her car, she was just emptying it when we arrived. No names mentioned Caroline.Another common saying is, i last cleaned my car oohhh about 2 years ago, and believe me we can tell, oh and another classic is, you have been hoovering my car for hours! em what does that tell you?Overall we never know what we might find, but we always seem to bring your vehicles back to that showroom condition. Even we dont know how we did it in some circumstances. Car Valeting GalleryCarpet & Matt AreasThe main areas of the vehicle that are going to be the worst are the drivers seat or the carpet areas on the drivers side, these get used the most and are usually in decent to atrocious condition. We suggest using rubber matts as they last for longer and clean up to a very high standard, some of the cheaper matts end up with holes going through due to wear & tear and also rotting, because of this it damages the carpet as you heel starts wearing into your carpet causing damage and staining.Womens Heels are the worst, as the heel goes right through the carpet making a nice hole, some rubber matts will prevent this. One thing the Car Manufactures don't think of is the colour of the carpets, seats and dash board and door cards. Why do they make them beige, oh yes they look great and a great selling point is a nice looking car but from a cleaning point of view its not a colour i would recommend. Lets face it, look at what we do in our everyday lives, where we walk and the weather we get, we all just jump into our beautiful cars with beige carpets, beige leather seats, and most people dont have the time or think about what they have just done, you get the picture. Dogs, Cats and other Furry Hair Dropping AnimalsWe all love our pets and love to take them to the beach, walks or just for a drive to keep ourselves company. One of the biggest mistakes is not to give the motor a quick once over every couple of weeks. Pet hairs are the worst to remove from the vehicle, they get woven into the carpet fibres and can take hours to remove which will cost you more money and their is no easy way to remove them. The Boot AreaThis can be and probably is the worst part of the car to clean and lets be honest we put all sorts in their from garden waste to what ever you take to the tip. You can buy boot tidies for your car that will protect your boot, some are universal and others you buy that are made to measure. At the end of the day the more you protect your vehicle the better price you will receive when you trade it in or sell it on. It makes sense to protect your investment.
