About us

The Rams Head Inn at Denshaw and has been owned by the Haigh family for over 30 years. Being over 450 years old it sits at 1212ft above sea level and enjoys panoramic views of the Saddleworth moors towards Rochdale, Oldham & Manchester.

Inside much is as it has always been, memorabilia fills the room, oak settles, informal dining tables and chairs and wonderful roaring log fires. However, moving with the times, from just serving beer and ale, the Rams Head decided to serve fine pub food and is one of the original “gastro pubs" Using farm assured meats, the freshest seafood and game in season, the accolades speak for themselves – Lancashire Life magazine Pub Food of the Year Award, AA recommended, City Life Magazine, les Routiers, Which Guide and Alisdair Sawdays. Our food is seasonal and often with a modern twist, but with a few traditonal favourites always available. There is a great range of wines and champagnes, with many wines served by the glass. Hand pulled beers (Timothy Taylors, Black Sheep & Theakston's Old Peculier) are always available.

Within 5 minutes of the M62, Jcn 22 it is easily reached within 30 minutes from both Manchester and Leeds and with the Pennine Bridleway running past the Inn, Saddleworth moor and Ogden Reservoir is a major attraction for walkers and riders. All the Saddleworth villiages are within 10 minutes drive and make for a fabulous day out. All in all, a great place to visit, relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Visited this pub with my girlfriend and enjoyed a lovely steak sandwich and drinks by the log fire. Lovely atmosphre and really oldy worldy. The only thing that stops me giving a 10, is the fact that they did not serve food on the stated times and had run out of beer. Then again you can't have it all. Now a place we go to be alone and feel at home by a lovely fire.
