Came to this place, an hour jouney to get there, special occasion, ruined by the total lack of standerd of the food, boil in the bag lamb shank passed off as roast lamb, and moussaka left over from the week before, Bechemel sauce was bright yellow and stale, when i complained we were shunned and had the door slamed in our face, on top of that the waitress wore a turquoise top and purple trousers, enough to put you off your food before you begin. you will need sectioning if you feel the need to dine here. dont say i didnt warn you.

When the call for Mama Mia chimes in your head, this should be top of your list - Manolis is your host although it was once called the Ben Johnson Steak House - long gone. Manolis calls the shots in this cosy if small restaurant with pictures of Greek Island such as Mikonos. I generally plumb for the Souvlaki for a quick lunch, or start with hot pitta and lovely home-made Houmous. I was always under the impression that houmous was Greek but it actually middle eastern. If you are lucky the jovial host will join you for an aperitif or a free glass of retsina.

A mix of Greek and British influences make this stand out. It has very unusual dishes, not just your average moussaka. The atmosphere is very lively too towards closing
