Rude Man, no customer skills at all

Service

Quality

Value

This place is awful. The telephone manner of some of the staff is shocking. I rang with a view to a very expensive upgrade and was met with complete disinterest. They have a good mechanic who actually knows what customer service is though. It's such a shame Koga supply this shop. A quality manufacturer with exceptionally low quality suppliers like this place. Shop elsewhere.

Rude woman, no customer care!!

Service

Quality

After I've spent more than 600 pounds in this shop during the past 4 months and received rude treatment from the woman (the owner) in the shop today I decided not to return again! Advice to bike lovers. Avoid the shop.Extremely poor customer service from the owner. Dismissive, cold, uninterested, dictatorial attitude without any sense of what customer service is supposed to be. Strongly recommend to begin a GCSE course in public relations starting with the meaning of basic good manners. Or imitate the good quality of their basic humanity in her other members of staff.

Bad service rude lady

Service

Quality

I have never been treated so badly in a retail outlet. I was being helped by a very nice young chap and had decided on the bike and kit I was looking at purchasing. The total was just over £2500. I happened to ask the chap if he could do anything price wise for me as I would be paying in cash and as they say.. Cash is king! This was overheard by an older lady who I later found out was the shop owner. She came over and spoke over the top of the young chap ( by the look on his face he knew what was coming) and let rip into me about how they don't need to discount their goods and the service in the shop out weighs any discount and you get a free service....... And so on and so on.... When I pointed out to the lady that every bike shop I have ever used for a new bike offer all of the above and most offer a small discount on parts purchased at the same time, she lost the plot! Needless to say I left without a new bike. Once I had calmed down with a strong sweet tea I visited cycles uk. I explained what had happened at Downland and once again the face said it all. I left the shop with a lovely specialized bike and all the kit I needed (15% off) Downland shame on you!

Expensive and decidedly erratic service.

Service

Quality

Service varies depending on who serves you. They are capable of being polite and helpful but one member of staff in particular was extremely rude. The final straw was taking in a bike I had bought from them and being lumbered with a bill for nearly £100 including new bottom bracket and chainset, despite expressly requesting simply a tune-up of the brakes and gears and no further work being quoted for. All this from a bike still supposedly under warranty. Take your custom elsewhere.

Very Disappointing Mountain Bike Service

Service

Quality

Value

I took my mountain bike in for a service and overhaul as it hadn't been used in a while as was extremely disappointed with the service. I was told I'd receive a phone call to discuss the work before undertook any and I didn't, they simply proceeded without my permission and presented me with a bill at the end and told the bike was in perfect working order after replacing several parts. Then soon after the bike has problems with gears, the front derailer and huge amounts of creaking all over. Would never go back.

Superb Help

Service

Quality

Value

I am British Cyclings go-ride coach for Kent, and Downlands is the first place I asked to service all of my bikes. They are superbly organised, friendly and welcoming (usually with tea!) and most importantly they are good retailers. They have well trained staff in proper uniform who are there to help. Even if you have 30 odd dirty bikes to sort out. Cheers Brian Julie, the guys & the dogs!
