What a pitty I have to even give them a star! I am shocked that anyone could leave a positive review on sterling. I know other people that have had a bad experience (total understatement) with them so I know it isn't just me! Everything is so difficult and a big drama with sterling and it was clear from the first meeting with them that it wasn't going to run smoothly. If it wasn't for the house we bought I would have run a mile. I have seen other reviews here mentioning honesty?!?!?!?! When speaking of honesty with sterling I certainly would not put it in good context because it is something they cannot obide by. I know someone who even after I told them not to use Sterling still went ahead and did it - He now wishes he hadn't. Hate to have told you so. Theyre just really NOT worth the time and money. Also to anyone who suffers from stress...you'll make life worse for yourself if you use Sterling...trust me please!

when we rented through sterling we found them to be helpful, professional and friendly. We did have a couple of issues with the property when we first moved in, but this was down to the landlord. Sterling got things sorted and in no time we had everything working well

Me and the wife are so pleased that we will never again in our lives have to deal with Sterlings Lettings. I nearly cried when we left, not because I was sad to go, but because I was so glad I would not have to speak with these people ever again, thank you God for treating us so kindly. All prospective renters and landlords out there, "Caveat emptor".

I had a chuckle at the reviews. I have rented through Sterling for years now and actually found their honesty very refreshing. It seems clear to me that the reviewers here prefer dealing with estate agents who just tell them what they want to hear and not the truth. If I was a landlord or seller I would definately want Sterling to act on my behalf, they are straight talking, no nonsense estate agents - I would suggest other estate agents would be better to follow their example!

From the minute go I had problems with Sterling. Their attitude is atrocious and I can't believe they treated myself, a customer, like they did. They should be shut down as far as I'm concerned. I totally agree with Johnny H.

In the past I've rented several properties and the process of going from saying "yes I'll take it" to receiving the keys has been a relatively painless one. With Sterling that was not the case, from the moment I went to hand in my reference documents things start to seem strange. Along with the form, I was requested to hand over £200 cash to pay for the credit check. At the same time I asked if the main deposit could be paid by card as it was £1800 which I didn't have in cash, I was told that that would be no problem. When I returned with my signed contracts and my card ready for the deposit, things began to get really strange. As I produced my card to make the £1800 payment, I was greeted with a rather blunt, "we can't accept cards but there's a cash machine over the road." Slightly shocked, I asked why they couldn't accept a card and mentioned that I'd been told previously that there would be no problem. The response I got was that they didn't have a physical means of taking the payment, the reason being that they would be charged for it. I suggested that if they unprepared to swallow the charge levied by the banks then why didn't they pass it on when taking a card payment, to which their only answer was, "we don't want to do that". They then followed on to say that they don't just take cash, they can take a cheque, bankers draft or you could make bank transfer. I may be being thick here but are all those methods not equal to cash? If I had the means to do any of the alternatives they were offering, would I not just go over the road and withdraw the money? I may also be in a minority that I'm unaware of but these days, are most large transactions not made by some form of card? My advice to anyone that see's a property available through a Sterling would be that unless you've found your dream property at a price way below anything else you've ever seen or if you simply have no other choice, avoid them like the plague, they're just not worth it.

Be warned - the Tring office lettings department are a disgrace. Extremely bad attitude, lack of adherence to the rules and rudeness you cannot imagine. Wow. Just... wow. This company deserves to be dragged through the mud and shown what a bunch of unprofessional tricksters they are!
