What was supposed to be a family birthday treat, turned to a disasterous evening, with the arrival of my main course. After our starter plates were cleared, my main meal of sea bass arrived swimming in a congealed inedible pernod sauce, which I defy anyone to eat. Attempts to get a member of staff's attention proved useless, as they were overly-attending a large party in the restaurant, who were obviously spending plenty. A member of staff finally arrived at our table, only when my family had finished their main meal and I was still sat with an untouched meal in front of me. At this point I was offered an alternative meal but felt too embarrassed to eat alone. The bill arrived, including the price of my untouched main meal. When the bill was queried, my comments fell on deaf ears from a pompous Head of House, who would have put Basil Fawlty to shame. The biggest insult came when I was told " your bill has been reduced by £2.80 (the cost of the pernod sauce) and the customer is not always right". To sum up, £20 for an average starter is more than taking the mick. Recommend this place - YOU MUST BE JOKING!!!

Sunday Lunch

We had heard rave reviews about the Weston for food so decided to try. We booked a table as we had a feeling it got busy. Choice of 2 sittings, so guessed we were right to book. Inclusive sunday menu was a good selection. Starter/Main meal and pudding and I believe coffee is also included in the price. The main meals were tasty. However the one small Yorkshire pudding didn't look homemade and looked like the frozen ones you buy in the supermarket and just one yorkshire seemed silly, the size they were should have been 2 on the plate, the Roast Potatoes didn't look homemade and looked like they were pre made and frozen which spoilt the main and there was no extra gravy boat placed with the meal which you often get in some pubs with Sunday lunch. The puddings were the usual bought in large catering sized puddings, nothing bad but nothing special and the sundaes were again bought in. A nice Sunday meal but nothing special, good value, nice atmosphere, pleasant and good staff, but left feeling like we could have eaten more of the main.
