Roast of the Day

Date 10/07/07 Time 6pm Brewers Fayre, Percy Hobbs restaurant Alresford. After a day out to Winchester my wife and myself decided to stop off for a meal. This turned out to be most unsatisfactory. First of all my wife requested a glass of water. when it arrived it was warm from being served in a hot glass presumably, straight from the dishwasher. We both ordered the roast of the day which was lamb. It arrived after a considerable wait (20 minutes) and after trying the meal found that the meat was hardly warm, the gravy was a congealed mess, the stuffing ball when cut in half was just as if it had come out of the packet and had not been mixed with water i.e. granules. My wife duly complained and we were offered another complete meal of the same. My wife agreed providing the meat etc was heated properly. This next meal arrived and there was an improvement in the temperature but the roast potatoes were not roasted and were hard, some of the lamb was black, the other vegetables consisted of one very small floret of broccoli, one very small floret of cauliflower, and a virtual mound of carrots, and the gravy stuck to the top of the meat in a congealed lump. Our complaint was described by the waitress to another table as "A kerfuffle" and given as the reason for them running out of lamb.
