We arrived on the Friday shorty before 6pm to a smelly unclean house with dirty bed linen piled in the hallway. We couldn't get hold of the owners and had 3 hungry children to feed. The fridge was broken and filthy with leftover food and sticky mess from the previous guests. The floors needed a good wash and there was dog hair all over the place. The bathrooms were disgusting with hair in the sinks, urine marks on the toilets and bins with used items. We eventually got a reply from the numerous messages we'd left on the owner’s voicemail and his attitude towards the problem was severely lacking empathy. We wanted to go home but after a long drive our children were tired so we stayed and went to bed. In the morning my wife went out and bought air fresheners for every room and odour removing spray. I cleaned the fridge and we had to apply mould and mildew cleaner 4 times to the showers, the grime was orange in colour so clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Two cleaning ladies eventually arrived and while they seemed nice their cleaning skills were poor. They left bathroom bins un-emptied and toilets not cleaned properly, with marks from the previous guests on the underside of the toilet seat and dog paws on the floor in the bathroom. There were also hazards such as broken electrical plugs with exposed wires, smoke alarms dangling from the ceiling without batteries, the key in the backdoor was so stiff and difficult to turn that I was the only person that could open it and of the two front door keys only 1 worked and with no doorbell this posed a problem because the house is very large and we couldn't easily hear people knocking on the door. It is also located within about 30ft of a pub that puts on music Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings until midnight, we have 3 children ranging from 1 year to 7 years so this kept them and also us awake. The house offers 2 televisions in two sitting rooms but these are so small that you cannot view them comfortably, one of them has a hissy fuzz noise and both are tube televisions that you probably owned yourself in the 1990s. It would appear the house has not been maintained to a level that you would expect of your own house, let alone a holiday home that should be offering equal or better facilities than those you would find at home. The location is too noisy for a family. The cleaners and the owners have no interest in this house, it is a money making exercise. The deposit was returned over a week late! AVOID.
