GEM Services was founded by Jim and Jenny Earley in 2000 and originally ran from home in Devon on a mobile basis, servicing the farms and homes on Dartmoor and the local area which were off the national grid and utilised generators and inverters to supply electrical power.

About Us

The company was then offered premises at Teignmouth and since then has grown rapidly and expanded to encompass marine power generation.

The workshop has an excellent location being fairly accessible to Dartmoor, Bodmin and Exmoor via the A38/A380/A30. New installations, repairs and maintenance to existing equipment to many types of generators used in many different applications.

As the workshop is directly on a quay this offers excellent services to vessels needing attention. Due to the construction of the quay and tidal conditions in Teignmouth it is possible for us to dry vessels alongside the quay wall for work under the waterline (transmission, rudders, propellers, etc.)

The marine repairs also include welding and fabrication work on the Teignmouth small fishing fleet and our customers now include Royal Devonport Dockyard, Devon Port Yachts, Beta Marine, Merlin Power and we continue to support our original customer base. We also carry out regular repairs to coasters visiting Teignmouth's busy commercial port.

Our engineers have worked throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and many other overseas locations.
