Award winning tearoom and 16th century watermill

We were delighted to win the Devon Life "Best Tearoom Award" in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Our forte is a range of sweet goodies - cream teas with scones/Devonshire splits, and a variety of mill-made cakes, some with our flour. GF option. Hele cornmill is a working watermill dating back to 1525. We returned to milling flour on the water powered stones in 2012 and stoneground wholemeal flour can be purchased in the tearoom. We don't mill continuously and sometimes in the summer there is insufficient water. Guided and non-guided tours throughout the day. See website for milling demonstration days.

Wholewheat flour is sold in the gift shop. The flour is ground here at the mill from organic wheat.

Hele Cornmill is a working watermill dating back to 1525. We returned to milling in 2012 and produce stoneground wholemeal flour which is available to purchase in the tearooms. We mill when required and when water levels allow, so you may find the mill is not milling at the time of your visit. Guided and unguided tours throughout the day.
