Special at Basmati
I was there for 2 days in Derby with my family, we had our dinner on both the days here. The food is excellent, the staff is very very friendly, the owner is a very helpful man. We are pure vegetarians an we did get a lot of variety. People who need indian food in Derby, this is a must!

WOW curry
Fab autentic food We love the Vegetable Kofta. The food here is excellent and not swimming with fat. Go for things you don't see on any other indian's menus.

Lovely curry
Best Indian Restaurant in Derby. We had an office party there. Between 20 people, we pretty much ordered the whole menu! ok not quite, but we did have a very good selection. The lamb was very tender, the chicken was fresh, and so were the vegetables. Everyone really enjoyed it, and we have all been back with our wives/husbands since.

Exceptionally well food
Best indian in Derby i think this is what Derby needed, rather than all the indian restaurants that don't have a clue what they serving. went for my sons birthday on saturday, the food was out of this world, great atmosphere and excellent service, a good variety for everyone. they made it special by bringing a birthday cake and singing happy birthday at the end of the meal even though it was full, best birthday my son ever had.would definitely recommend, try for yourself im certain you won't be disappointed.

The food here is excellent!
Lovely as always!! they always get everything write if i fill in the box just before i order my food, salad and sauces always on the write meals. would HIGHLY recommend!!

Fabulous Curry place
Delicious, original food This is my favourite Indian restaurant - I have been coming here on and off since it opened, and have never been disappointed. Excellent, friendly service, outstanding food, well-presented and well-cooked, made from good quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

The best curry I ever had
Every time I have visited Basmati I have found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable, the curry is excellent, no fault on Service. Loved the Mixed Kabab and the wine list is excellent and. I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent restaurant.

WoW curry house
We always have a takeaway from Basmati since it opened. For a special treat to my children we decided to dine in on Last Sunday. The restaurant is very children friendly. We been to offered kids meal as well, and staff was very nice to my children and always have good smile. We felt very happy and lastly my children said this is better than any other place. I don't have any other things to say other than thank you for looking and caring us with our children. We felt very welcome and definitely we will visit with our children.

Superb curry
Ate here after looking at review for inspiration and wasn't disappointed. Great service and delish food. Never had lamb so tender. Try it, highly recommended.

Definitely recommend
Basmati has actually managed to succeed where a lot of Indian restaurants that have tried to go more up market have failed - -Really warm, friendly service -Delicious food -Nice ambience and setting -reasonable price (there are midweek offers available through websites) I would definitely recommend Basmati.

The best curry in the town
Visited the restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews with my 4 friends and found it to be superb. Food was truly authentic Indian and service was very opted. for a la carte and had the Hot Meat Puri starter which was out of this world. The Lamb Almashiki is AMAZING, like nothing I've ever tasted before. So different. The spice level is handled to your own taste, and the value is second to none.. Could not recommend it too highly. Excellent smiling service and the speciality lamb curry was perfect. Try the stuffed naan the filling was delicious.

Best Indian Food in Derby
I am a Basmati Restaurant regular and would recommend the food here over any of the local competition. The menu offers a great deal of variety, with personal favourites of Badshahi Chicken and most of the lamb dishes. I find this restaurant unpretentious (unlike other new restaurant), and focussed on good food. Owners are excellent hosts for a loyal clientele. The food tastes fresher than the competition with emphasis on fresh herbs and spices. The tandoor throws out some excellent quality breads which are always a hit. I have taken friends and customers to Basmati and the food is consistently good.

Food was amazing, unfortunately some of the staff were not.
Me and my boyfriend booked a table there last night. The food was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately after about 10 minutes of sitting down another couple came in who happened to be regulars and always sat at the table we were given, but there reservation was not written down. We offered to move but they said it was fine and sat at the table next to us. All the way through our meal, we heard staff making comments about why we were sitting at the other couples table, bearing in mind we were sat at the next table and could hear everything that was being said which I found quite rude and also made me and my boyfriend feel uncomfortable and guilty about sitting at the table we were given. I would go again because the food was so good, its just a shame they gave such a bad impression to customers who have never been before. Not a good way to get customers to want to come back.

Nice restaurant and very friendly staff, exceptionally well food
Really great Indian restaraunt. Pricewise better than average Indian and it is worth paying more high quality food with excellent service of any other cuisine. The waiters are really friendly and always remember you whether you are in for a meal or to pick up a takeaway.
