Cornwall Contemporary opened on 1st September 2006. Director, Sarah Brittain has been involved in the arts since graduating from Falmouth College of Art in 1996. With years of experience in working with artists, she is the author of Behind the Canvas - 40 artists living and working in Penwith and has also collaborated on and contributed to numerous artist catalogues and books. She is passionate about the artist's work she exhibits and aims to provide an excellent service both for them and for the clients who wish to purchase a unique work of art for their home or work place. With a deep knowledge and understanding of placing art in residential and business locations, she is happy to advise first time buyers, those wishing to add to their collection as well as providing guidance for businesses wishing to create a collection for their workplace. The gallery is situated in a listed building;at the top of historic Chapel Street in Penzance and is within five minutes walking distance of both Penlee House Gallery and The Exchange Gallery. It is a large, spacious gallery set out over three floors. The ground floor is used for changing exhibitions whilst the upper two floors are used for mixed work by gallery artists and special capsule installations and exhibitions.

Exhibitions at Cornwall Contemporary change monthly and aim to present the very best of art in Cornwall and from out of the county. Well established and highly respected artists often exhibit alongside some of the most promising up - and - coming art school graduates and artists from afar afield as the West coast of America and Norway. Regular exhibiting artists include Neil Pinkett, Daphne McClure, Arthur Lanyon, Emma Dunbar, Ken Spooner, Fenella Elms, Simon Turner, Nancy Pickard, Antonio Lopez Reche, Alasdair Lindsay, Maggie Matthews, Simeon Stafford, Jamie Boyd, Emma McClure, Fiona Millais, Pippa Young, Simon Stooks, Paul Lewin and Janet Lynch amongst others.

A specially selected range of quality ceramics and artist made jewellery is also on display including porcelain by Helen Beard, stoneware by Charlotte Jones and the distinct ceramic figures of Jane Muir. One off, unique jewellery is exhibited by Fay Page, Nancy Pickard, Comfort Station among others.
