Avoid At All Cost - Undique Travel
Do not use. This man is taking people’s holiday bookings, providing reference numbers but not physically booking the flights or accommodation. He’s keeping peoples money, not responding to email, calls, messages etc. Stuart Loudon is a conman. I’m collating info/details of people affected to build up evidence to submit to the police. Lost holiday and ghosted
TL;DR: After having lost a holiday package worth over £3,000 and being ghosted by this company, we will never use a travel agent again. It started well: We asked our neighbour about their awesome looking holiday, and they told us it was organised by Undique Travel, whose services his father had been using for all their holidays, they were friends with the founder. We reached out to the agent with the request for a holiday in Turkey, and got a response from his son, who took over the day-to-day running of the business while his father was in ill health. Our initial impressions were good. Waid £1,800 for the flight tickets. Two out of three flight bookings were made with spelling mistakes, but we managed to rectify it with Turkish airlines. We paid another £1500 for the hotel, although never received any confirmation or receipt for this. A few days before the holiday, we got an email that Undique Travel got hacked, and all our hotel bookings were lost; the hackers cancelled them and reimbursed themselves. There were no more free rooms in the hotel either; we decided to cancel the whole thing and rebook later on our own. The agent said they would write to Turkish Airlines to plead with them to let us cancel the flight, and if they wouldn't, they would pay the tickets back from their own pocket, but they will need to wait for the investigation and insurance, because all their accounts were frozen. During the following months, it was nigh impossible to reach them for any update. We managed to get someone to pick up the phone once, but the person never said a word while my wife explained why she called. Minutes later, however, we received a canned email saying the company cannot handle credit cards at the moment, but they were submitting their data handling strategy document to the auditors, and hope to get their license back as soon as next week. That was the last time we heard from them. We never received anything such as an insurance case number, where we could inquire about the investigation. We even thought we have been selectively scammed, and there was no hacking, especially after hearing that our neighbour is again using them for holidays. After probing our neighbour, he shared with us a message from his father saying that some of the other clients have managed to get their money back from Undique Travel after persistent badgering. At least least it wasn't a story made up just for us, but they would still not respond to us. If you are a personal friend of the founder of Undique Travel, perhaps you will be treated fairly, otherwise beware.
