Twenty five years working with fine watches and jewellery all across the UK has given Henry Johnstone an incredible insight into the essence of high quality and excellence in service that ensures his customers keep coming back again and again!

There’s nothing like a jewellery shop window to attract the attention of the magpie in all of us but look a little closer at Henry’s innovative and colourful displays and you’ll discover exciting, leading edge fashion designs, new brands and fine jewellery you won't see anywhere else.

“To ensure success you really need to identify with your customer,” says Henry. “In this area our clientele are very in tune with fashion and style trends; recognize and understand quality and are reassured by the expertise and experience I have.

“I see a major element of my profession as identifying and seeking out up and coming brands and it sometimes means I have to take a leap of faith, but if I can present my customers with new and exciting designs and keep ahead of the fashion curve, I’ll always do that.

“The best example of this to date is Thomas Sabo. Realizing early on the potential of the brand, I initially decided to introduce the ‘Charm Club’ into our range and quickly followed with the Sterling Silver and Watch collections. It’s now our leading brand in silver jewellery design, and what I really love is that they never fail to exceed our expectations – there’s always something new and exciting.

“I’ve recently introduced SHO jewellery into our range, by the young and innovative British designer Sarah Ho who has won many Awards and accolades within the jewellery industry honouring her with the recognition she deserves and positioning her as ‘the one to watch’ for the future”.

Henry’s dedication to provide his customers with nothing less than the very best doesn’t stop at brand selection. He has a thriving bespoke jewellery design business too, driven by his belief that the difference is in the detail and that pretty much anything is possible with the right skills and expertise at hand.

Henry says: “We have developed a reputation that brings people from far and wide. My ethos is that we will achieve excellence at every level – and having bespoke jewellery made guarantees the perfect fit and feel of every piece.

“Firstly I like to spend time with our customers to really get a feel for their personal tastes and styles, from this I create a series of pencil sketches to pass on to one of our CAD designers, the agreed design is then converted to a CAD 3D image, so the client can see exactly what it will look like before it goes to the goldsmith I’ve chosen specifically for the job. We work with several highly skilled goldsmiths, each chosen for their own strengths in different skills and disciplines, therefore ensuring we achieve the best results. I’ve had some very interesting briefs over the years, one of which even caught the attention of Aspreys of London!

“One of our areas of expertise is bespoke wedding rings, we have met many people who simple haven’t been able to find a jeweller willing to take the time to actually listen and give good insight into creating their dream wedding rings. Many people have commented that our approach to innovative design is not just refreshing and reassuring but one of the reasons behind our success in this field. We have experienced tears of joy here on occasion and for us that is the most sincere and touching compliment.”
