Shocked!
After reading Sienna's review I must say I am left a little confused, I'm from Oakham and heard about the Beijing Rendezvous through my Dad who has always lived in Peterborough. We all went for a meal last January and found it very pleasant, food was delicious (mum even commented it was the best lemon chicken she had eaten)and we also found the staff quite friendly and very obliging, they also left you alone while you were eating which we thought was considerate. Facilities were nice and clean too (none of this squatting over the toilet).We went back in the March for my birthday and found the service and food just as good as before. They do add a service charge to your bill but I believe it is well worth it, we are going back again for my birthday next week!

Very surprised!
I have just read the review by Sienna and am really really surprised. I live in the Peterborough area and the Beijing Rendezvous has an excellent reputation and is very popular. I have eaten there many times and have had excellent service and tasty good quality food. Having said that the last time I was there was October 2007. Perhaps I need to go back and take a closer look!

6/3/08 - don't waste your money!!me and my husband went away for weekend and stayed in marriott hotel, just round corner.When my husband and i dine we alweays spend about £30 each plus drinks, so from the price list on theIr website we expected quality. *IT HAD NO QUALITY*Food was tiny portions & a 1/4 of authentic taste as our local CHINESE takeaway place!! Starter was cold & ribs were just fat no meat on them. The noodles tasted of cornflour with no seasoning & the 'sweet chili chicken' was just watery thin chicken with sweet n sour sauce poured over it! When i complained the waitress said that i should have asked for it hot, as they don't normally add chilli's!! Hold-on its called 'Sweet chilli chicken'!! We had to pay for all plus they charge an extra 20% descrete tip! DisgustedToilets smelt like sewers - i had my bag on my knee while i hovered above the pan - the floors were all wet - mould and brown patches on ceiling and grubby broken floor tiles - Eeew!Decor (blue stripey wall paper) was something from the early 90's - just couldn't b'leive that they get away with charging silly money for nothingness meals!!
