Rapid Prototyping

Almost every project reaches a stage where there is a requirement for prototypes. Thanks to advances in technology and close relationships with our modelling partners we can complete these prototypes incredibly swiftly, to a quality that is virtually indistingishable from the finished product.

The rapid prototyping techniques we use include stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), fused deposition deposition modelling (FDM) and rapid metal casting (MPA30). We can also machine parts directly from solid using both CNC and laser cutting.

Value Engineering

We apply our value engineering experience to the design on entirely new products and also to projects where we are asked to upgrade and improve existing ones.
Value engineering is about optimising the design to create the best possible design for the lowest possible cost.
We look at how to build the greatest possible value into the product, in terms of functionality, aesthetics, ergonomics, ease of use and sustainability. We scrutinise every aspect, from materials and number of parts, to productions techniques, assembly time and tolling to find the most cost effective way of producing it.

Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is the process of creating the engineering information required to reproduce and existing part. In many cases customers do not have any drawings or supporting documentation of a part they would like to reproduce. Some ideal projects for this kind of work are in the automotive restoration, repair work and concept product development.
At MTH Designs we offer a reverse engineering service where our team of engineers take an existing part and create new, fully dimensioned manufacturing drawings. This can be one individual part or a complete assembly of components.
