How a broken TV made me a wealthy woman

7 months ago, I went to turn on my TV at 8 PM. But there was neither sound nor picture. The TV was dead. "*&%*!" I thought. "Here we are in the ‘credit crunch' and NOW I have to spend money to buy a new TV!" Grumbling, I called my friend Linda and told her my TV had blown up. She said, "That's GREAT! Now you can cancel your TV license and save £12 a month!" "Wow. You're right!" I replied. "AND, I can cancel my cable too. That's another £15. Here I was thinking I would have to spend on a new TV, and instead I have an extra £25 a month. I feel rich."After that, my whole life changed. I used the evenings to write. I finished my book and started live book readings. New coaching clients came from the events. I started exploring LinkedIn and other social networks. My business improved and I was having fun. I felt richer than ever.There was a fund raiser for one of my friends who has cancer. I really wanted to donate, but I had no cash with me. I heard they were having an auction to raise money, and a light went off in my brain. I offered to design a simple website as an auction item. It raised 400 Euros, even though I didn't have a penny. Wealth is everywhere.Tuesday, I found a newspaper on a train. Every page had the words "credit crunch". "That's funny," I thought, "Ever since my TV blew up, I haven't once thought of the ‘credit crunch'." I realised that my entire perspective about money had completely shifted. I was looking for opportunities instead of problems.Last Thursday, the universe sent me three fabulous new clients (something that usually happens over a few weeks, not a single day. Apart from the obvious "wealth" that this brings me financially, I feel extremely wealthy just for the opportunity to work with these incredible people. AND do you know what? The fact that I have this attitude is already impacting my clients, and I can see some of my older clients' businesses are starting to turn around and become lucrative.Wealth is completely a matter of perspective.
