the imax cinema is situated in the centre of manchester i would highly recommend this odeon imax cinema, they sell tickets farily cheaply and often have very short queues.although you can pre book and pre pay on the internet before hand There are escalators taking you to all the floors, and a lift which seems a little bit dated compared to everything else in the buildingYou can pay an extra for premium seats, although there is hardly any difference between normal and premium seats at this venue. they are supposed to be more comfortable but arent really they have deeper arms thats allRefreshments are available at various points around the cinema, there are vending machines near the doors to the screens, but the costs are very high so I would recommend purchasing your refreshments from the nearby news agents or even take them with you bought from a supermarket before you goThere is also a Nandos straight across from the Cinema, so you can have something to eat before or after your film, and it's a short walk away from Piccadilly train station where trains and the metro link can be caught and run frequently every 10 - 15 nins or so depending on the time of daythe cinema is also close to a number of bus routes and carparking although a little expensive is plentiful

More than a Cinema

I just love going to see a new must see film and where better to go than the IMAX. It's such a fantastic cinema and what's even better is the fact that it is located in Central Manchester, for anyone who doesn't know where it is it's in the Printworks just off Cross Street. What I love to do is go and do a bit of shopping have a late lunch then go and see a movie. For anyone who hasn't been here then it's a must to try it out, it is a bit pricey but I think its worth it if it's something you enjoy doing. It's also great to go and see a 3D movie.

Massive screen

I've only been to see two movies here - Superman (the new one) IMAX, and Transformers. The IMAX film had special 3D effects where you put on special glasses - but much better than the god awful ones we had back in the 80s and 90s. The screen is enormous, so sit back if you can! Also if you wear specs, then put your contacts in if you can - otherwise you are constantly tiliting your head back and forth to focus if you aren't sat far back enough!Transformers on the big screen was quality - no special 3D or anything, just 'blow your mind' massive and loud.If there's any new blockbusters that are specially IMAX'ed they'll be marked so on the listing, so check them out for a new experience.

Great theater

I went and saw batman here on a sunday night, and found that it was very well organised. It was sold out and extemely crowded, yet the staff were very helpful and peopel were let into the theater in a very orderly fashion. Although we didn't have what would be considered 'great' seats, we still had a awesome view and really enjoyed the film. IMAX is a must for any big blockbuster action movie!

A very expensive, but unforgettable experience

Service

Having been the Manchester IMAX a few times, I can honestly say that the whole experience is best appreciated on one of the '3D' films that are shown occasionaly, such as Superman Returns. You quickly get over the silly goggles (which are no longer children's red and green style ones, and use polarised lenses instead to maintain the original colours), and the screen displays a little warning symbol when you need to put them on, as only parts of the movie are in 3D. When you combine the enormous towering, wrap-around screen with the amazing 3D visuals the experience is very striking - Highly recommended, especially for the 3D films, if you get the chance go and see one, even if the storyline of the film sucks the experience will blow it away!

Great theatre

Odeon's IMAX situated next to Arndale, inside printworks is too good a theatre to resist. Its a must for all movie buffs to see Action/sci fi/animated movies here. I have watched many films here and have got my money's worth each and every time. You'd expect patchy image quality due to the massive screen, but the quality is excellent. Plus, the sound is also awesome. It's a complete movie experience. 3D films are a must to be seen here. I have watched both Beowolf and Journey to the centre of the earth here and have enjoyed both these films immensely. Seating is not bad and the premises are also clean. The staff are very helpful and the presence of quick ticket dispensers means that you dont have to wait in long queues to get reserved tickets. And since it's situated close to Arndale, you could finish your shopping, have food at Nandos and finish off the day watching a movie in this great theatre.

Amazing experience!

Watched the new Batman film, the Dark Knight, here last week, and would recommend this to any serious film-goer. An unmissable experience, where you are literally taken into the action. You will forget where you for the duration of the film, and any normal cinema experience you have after this will pale in comparison! Has to be seen to be believed.Make sure you have centre, rear reserved seats, or get there early to get your pick.
