About
Karate is a Martial Art developed in Okinawa, 'Kara' means 'empty' and 'te' means 'hand'. We practise Shotokan karate, that is the most popular style around the world as well as the most successful in form (Kata) competitions.
Karate develops balance, flexibility and strength. The specific training tecniques used in the Shotokan karate class result in self-confidence, motivation and self-esteem - that carry over to all aspects of life.
The instructor (or 'Sensei') of the Yoshitaka Karate Club is Patrizio Camillini (4th dan). He is a very experienced and enthusiastic Sensei. He has been involved in karate since the age of 3! He has taught In Italy, Greece and UK and competed in national and international events. Every session's training is both enjoyable and of the highest standard.

good for improving firness & good for your mind
At the beginning I wasn't sure on whether karate was the sport for me. After 4 weeks of training I already have the chance to take my first examination/grading and move on to the next colour belt! The pace of the training sessions is just right - I've never experienced any tightness in my muscles and never felt I couldn't cope, nevetheless, my overwhole level of fitness has quickly improved and I can now push the buggy up the hill from the car-boot sale while chatting with a friend and carrying a couple of carrier-bags. I am very proud of it! Also, what I really appreciate of karate is the fact that you can train at your own pace and that your strength/ level of proficiency is to be found as much in your body as in your mind. Karate is a very inspirational type of sport!
