Testimonials

Reviewed 6 October 2012 for a stay in September 2012 2 people found this review helpful My husband and I stayed here for a weekend with my 'senior' parents.Having trawled through lots of sites (we are extremely picky!) I came across this place and it looked fantastic. I decided that if it wasn't available for the break with my parents...I definitely wanted to stay there at some time! We stayed in apartment 3 and it was every bit as good as it looked on the website. It was a lovely day when we arrived and we managed to spend some time enjoying the vast deck with its big comfy furniture and enormous wind out umbrella. We did plan to use the gas BBQ the next evening, but unfortunately the weather was not kind to us. The standard or equipment was excellent and there was everything you could want in the kitchen. We had taken some BBQ tools, but needn't have bothered cos they are supplied. One small criticism would be that although some instructions are supplied for the oven - it would have been useful to have a copy of the manufacturers instructions. We are reasonably bright at sussung these things out, but my parents would have struggled. (I think we did everything right!) The beds are really comfortable and the linen etc is excellent quality - the whole place is fitted out and decorated to a very high standard and the views are to die for. We didn't do too much when were there. We had a look round Aberdovey which is nice and the beach is really good for kids. Barmouth is bigger and was nice for a look around, The last day was very mixed weather and it rained quite a bit, so we went to Aberystwyth and then over to the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader. This was well worth the drive and the visit and we would recommend the experience. Some people may think that this accommodation is expensive, but like most things in life - you get what you pay for and based on the overall price per person per night, it's good value for money. We loved this place so much that we were reluctant to put a review on here....we wanted to keep it quiet! We plan to go back next year.. 5 of 5 stars Ease of booking 5 of 5 stars Directions to the property 5 of 5 stars Key pickup/access to the property 5 of 5 stars Overall condition 5 of 5 stars Quality of bedding/mattresses 5 of 5 stars Kitchen/utensils quality 5 of 5 stars Cleanliness of bathroom 5 of 5 stars Quality of facilities/amenities 5 of 5 stars Service Liked best: Everything and the owners were really helpful. Liked least: All the main windows were 'french doors' and it would have been useful to have some smaller opening windows in the bedrooms. Travelling group: Extended Family Would I recommend this holiday rental to my best friend? Yes. Recommended for: Friends getaway Older travelers The property was "as advertised". I recommend the location. The property was a good value for the price paid. The property provided wifi/internet access. Was this review helpful? Reviewed 4 January 2013 for a stay in December 2012 1 person found this review helpful We stayed in apartment 3 over New Year's Eve, with another couple. The apartment is lovely - the views over the estuary are incredible, and even with 3 days of rain we still managed to find opportunities to relax on the terrace and listen to the birdsong! The bedrooms are quite evenly balanced (a good thing when you're two couples rather than a family!), with one having better views (patio doors with that view of the estuary to wake up to) and one having the en-suite bathroom. The bedrooms are very comfy with lovely duvets. The kitchen is small but well kitted out, with a big fridge and a wine cooler. We loved the whirlpool bath in the family bathroom. The living furniture was comfy, but maybe two two-seater sofas would be better than a three-seater and an armchair (as two couples, we had to take turns!) The apartments are up a very steep hill halfway between Pennal and Aberdovey - you wouldn't want to walk to either of them, so a car is essential! We ate at the Riverside Restaurant in Pennal and the Pharaoh Cellar Bistro in Aberdovey, both of which were good (though think the Riverside just pipped it). Also in Pennal is the MacDonald Hotel and Spa, where you have guest membership. Nice jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room, though it's far more heavy used by families and teens than other spas I've been too! There are some fantastic walks in the area - try walking up the hill behind Aberdovey then time your walk so you're coming back along the beach at sunset - it's just stunning. We can also recommend the Precipice Walk near Dolgellau. 5 of 5 stars Ease of booking 5 of 5 stars Directions to the property 5 of 5 stars Key pickup/access to the property 5 of 5 stars Overall condition 5 of 5 stars Quality of bedding/mattresses 5 of 5 stars Kitchen/utensils quality 5 of 5 stars Cleanliness of bathroom 5 of 5 stars Quality of facilities/amenities 5 of 5 stars Service Liked best: The views!
