THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN THE CITY BY A LONG CHALK
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT !! NO PRETENCE, NO NONESENCE, PLAINLY AND SIMPLY THE BEST FOOD YOU CAN FIND ANYWHERE IN GWENT......PROBABLY THE BEST IN WALES. ALL OTHERS IN NEWPORT LAG WAY BEHIND THEM. THEIR STEAKS AND SAUCES ARE TO DIE FOR AND THEY HAVE WON TOP ITALIAN RESTAURANT FOR THE LAST FIVE OR SIX YEARS ON THE TROT.

SUPERB FOOD
Really do enjoy eating at this restaurant, the standard is always excellent. Steaks are simply unbeatable, sauces are authentic and delicious, service is very good and really friendly and I simply adore the restaurant itself, its simply oooozing with character. Very charming. Oh! and by the way, congratulations to them on WINNING THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT AWARD AGAIN!

incredible quality and huge choice. i have become a regular at this restaurant and would prefer to eat here than any of the other restaurants that i have tried. I was stupid and let a bad revue sway me from dining, I'm so glad that I tried for myself and suggest every discerning diner does the same. A lot of idiots write a lot of dumb comments on line, but to cry down this restaurant has to go down as the dumbest I've encountered

SUPERB QUALITY FOOD
THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST RESTAURANT IN GWENT. BEING ASSOCIATED WITH THE FOOD AND DRINK INDUSTRY, I AM WELL AWARE OF THE JEALOUSY THAT EMINATES AROUND THIS RESTAURANT,..SO COME ON YOU OTHER RESTAURANTS, SPEND YOUR TIME IMPROVING YOUR OWN ESTABLISHMENTS RATHER THAN TRYING TO BAD MOUTH THIS EXCELLENT HOSTELRY

Par Excellent
I chose this particular restaurant on local advice, and unlike the comments that I read prior to attending found both the food and service to the equivalent of some of the better restaurants I have attended in Central London.The meal chosen, with expert advice given, could only be described as fit for the Gods. The accompanying sauces were balanced in the selection of both Herbs and Spices that blended together to perfection. It did not detract from the flavour of the meat, but added an exquisite enhancement to it.The service received was both personal and professional, which only added to the ambiance of the establishment itself.I strongly feel, that those that have previously written comments appertaining to this eatery, may have been of the opinion of attempting to receive either a free meal, or one with a large discount. Having been disappointed, have therefore given this particular restaurant a bad write up.I would have no qualms about returning, or recommending this place to anyone. I feel that it must be tried to be believed.Ian Dickens

do not bother, vegetable lasagne is a plate of mush, this place is now run down,standards have really dropped

The absolute best in Newport
I have become a regular visitor to Chez Giovanni. The food is always cooked to perfection and the service is always with a friendly smile. The atmosphere there is good too, pleasant and relaxing and all your needs are catered for. Highly recommended.
