Pumpernickel is situated in Dumfries town centre which is pedestrianised but there is car parking nearby and a good local bus service. It is on a cobbled street with lots of little independent shops adjacent to it.The atmosphere is relaxed allowing time to appreciate the time you might spend there. Whether you choose just tea or cofee and perhaps some home baking or a more substantial snack ( they serve breafast and lunchtime snacks including filled rolls, toasties etc), the food is always high quality and nicely presented by friendly and helpful staff. It is good value for money and worth visiting.

I have travelled the world and eaten in some fine establishments but have never received the quality of service that I received when I visited Pumpernickel. The staff were extremely friendly the food was exactly as described on the menu (a rare phonomenon) and the atmosphere was extremely relaxed and comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Pumpernickel to even my fussiest friends. I cannot wait to return to Dumfries to visit again
